Women Hate ICE & Trump's Poll Numbers Are Plummeting | Behind the Numbers with Rick & Andrew Wilson

"Immigration has fallen apart as an issue for them. The economy has fallen apart as an issue for them. Trump's behavior has fallen apart as an issue for them."

Another week, another batch of data to sift through on this week’s Behind The Numbers with Rick and Andrew Wilson. Today, the Wilsons explore Trump’s plummeting approval numbers, especially on immigration, which used to be his strongest issue.

“When you have dramatic shifts in polling, it must mean that there is something dramatic happening in the culture,” notes Andrew. One reason of many for the continued drop? “Women are really, really, really anti-ICE … They’re really angry about ice because ICE, I think in particular, you see a lot of videos where they treat women in a way that is different from the way they treat men. … They treat women with a special disdain. And somehow women are noticing these guys are scumbags.”

When you have someone at the top continually crossing red lines, it’s going to fall down to their lackeys. But as Trump keeps pushing the limits and crossing those red lines, it looks like some of his supporters are having buyers remorse.

Here’s one example Rick and Andrew found in reaction to Trump sharing a racist image of former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama and more of his disastrous presidency.

From the numbers, it does appear voters want sweeping change. But Andrew urges caution after Trump’s threats to nationalize the election and the possibility of ICE agents appearing at polling places. “They’re not keeping this a secret. Call your local election official and ask them what their plan is if the federal government sends ICE agents to your polling places.”

Dig a little deeper into more of the immigration polling with Rick and Andrew Wilson on Behind The Numbers, right here on Lincoln Square.
