Andra Watkins has been shouting from the rooftops about the very real impacts of Project 2025 on our society. She’s Lincoln Square’s very own Rosetta Stone for translating white Christian nationalism language into concrete, simple terms we can all understand.
Example? When WCNs say this bill is meant to protect children, usually what they mean is we are going to punish women, trans people, gay people, people of color, or all of the above at the same time.
That’s what stopped her in her tracks when she saw a Republican-sponsored Ohio House bill intended to protect children. Ohio House Bill 249, the “Indecent Exposure Modernization Act,” is written to keep children from seeing something scandalous at drag shows, which is dumb enough on its face. But Andra found language in the bill that has implications for the policing of women’s clothing choices.
No kidding. There is a world in which a bill like this allows men on the street to approach you or your daughter and harass you to change your clothes (because the man finds your clothing inappropriate).
If you don’t know what a Christian man finds inappropriate, well, buckle up. In this episode of Unholy Ground, Andra reveals all (so to speak).
