This week, Lincoln Square celebrates our one-year anniversary and we’re so grateful we can share it with all of you. Susan J. Demas and Sam Osterhout kick off the celebration on The Weekly Assignment by welcoming back Lisa Senecal, our Founding Editor, to reminisce about the early days of Lincoln Square and recognize the community that continues to grow every day.
“It is really wonderful to see the community that developed and that it is caring beyond just the issues but about one another and what’s going on in people’s lives. There’s really this sort of local community feel that has formed which we don’t have enough of in a lot of our local communities. So that people are finding that they can find that at Lincoln Square is just a lovely and really important thing because it’s that sense of we’re all in this together,” says Senecal.

And during this action-packed edition of The Weekly Assignment, Steven Beschloss, journalist, historian, and author of America, America on Substack, stopped by to talk about the importance of the press in being a check on our elected leaders.
Steven also discussed the danger Donald Trump has been to the First Amendment during his second term, as recently as this weekend with FCC Chairman Brendan Carr threatening new outlets that report negatively on his invasion into Iran.
Despite the attacks on the media, independent outlets like Lincoln Square will be here for you to bring the best in depth reporting and analysis. And we couldn’t be in this fight without your support and dedication to democracy and a free press.
Thank you for helping us reach this milestone! Stay tuned for more great shows during our anniversary week.
And we didn’t forget! Here’s your Weekly Assignment: Call your member of Congress and tell them to impeach President Trump.
