Steven Beschloss, the award-winning journalist, filmmaker, and author of the America, America Substack, sat down with Stuart Stevens this asf Pam Bondi’s disastrous hearing was kicking off on Capitol Hill.
Beschloss called out the MAGA crowd over the latest Epstein files release and encouraged them to finally draw a red line. “We’re still at an early place of understanding the scale of horror of the Epstein files, not only the acts themselves, but also the range of people, the range of sickness. You have a collection of very rich and very powerful people thinking the law doesn’t apply to them. And we’re seeing that in these files, there’s a limit on how much one can tolerate in the looking at them because they’re so disturbing and sickening in all kinds of ways.”
Both Stuart and Steven noted that there have been consequences for people implicated in the files in other countries and hope that others will face accountability here in America.
Given the erosion of our democracy by such vile leaders, Stuart and Steven explored the idea of a general strike. They point to the success of Tesla boycotts in response to Elon Musk’s DOGE project in the Trump administration and the pushback against Disney and ABC following Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension amid Trump’s threats. But can this be done on a larger scale? Stuart points to Civil Rights boycotts as a way forward.
And we can’t lose sight of the fact that Trump laying the ground to try and steal the midterm elections. And despite Trump’s efforts to rig the system, Stuart has a bold prediction: “I would say it is that Democrats are going to win in large numbers in the midterms and they’re going to win in large enough numbers that you’re not going to be able to steal.”
