“A year ago, nobody would have thought that the Democrats would be in the position that they’re in now. It’s a reach to say that they are within striking distance of the majority, but they’re in a better position than they were,” Tom Beaumont, national politics writer with The Associated Press, tells Joe Trippi on this latest edition of On The Ground with Joe Trippi.
Beaumont, who is based out of Des Moines, Iowa explains to Trippi how Iowa and a number other of states — from Maine to Texas — have a sporting chance to help tip the Senate and give Democrats the majority. And as someone who has been covering politics for a long time, what’s his assessment of the coming midterms?
“I have sat through so many campaign speeches where they say this is the most important election of your lifetime or whatever. I can truly say that this is the most significant midterm that I have ever seen.”
What are some surprising states Beaumont thinks could surprise voters come November? Jump into On The Ground with Joe Trippi for an enlightening discussion about this year’s election prospects right here on Lincoln Square.
