Are Soccer Moms the New Black Panthers? | Protect & Serve with Michael Fanone and Maya May

Protest works. ICE is leaving Minnesota.

White House Border Czar Tom Homan has announced the retreat of ICE from Minneapolis. And a Department of Homeland Security shutdown is imminent as Democrats blocked a funding bill on Thursday.

On Protect & Serve, Maya May and Michael Fanone celebrate the drawdown and applaud protesters for their tireless efforts.

“The suburban moms who are out there with their whistles, the suburban moms in the Signal chats. These moms are using the same tactics that the Black Panthers used. And I was fascinated by this because I’m like, oh my God, suburban moms are the new Black Panthers,” said Maya.

And as support for ICE continues to falter, Mike and Maya wonder why Democrats haven’t gotten the message that this organization is beyond reform. “They’re the ones who decided that now that there’s no oversight, we’re gonna go out there and behave like animals to American citizens, to migrants. And so in my mind, this is an agency that is far beyond reform. It needs to be disbanded,” says Fanone.
