One of the most striking and telling things about the worldview of the white Christian nationalists (WCNs) who hold power in Washington is their view of obscenity and, well, porn. It’s not just that they want to ban porn — of course they do — the bigger point is what they consider to be porn in the first place.
Namely, everything is porn if it makes a man think about sex. And it turns out most things make WCN men think about sex.
Your favorite TV show. Sex. Some of the world’s greatest and most beloved works of art? Sex. Seeing a woman’s arm. Sitting on a couch. Sex, sex, sex.
But it’s not just the scope and breadth of what they find to be pornographic; it’s that they want to control what you see, what you consume, what you love, who you love, and what you do now and forever.
