The news broke last week. The FBI raided the Fulton County, Georgia election hub and removed around 700 boxes of data, including ballots, voting machine tape, and so on. Not from the last election, which Trump won, but from 2020.
But then photographs of Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard appeared. She was there during the raid, which was odd, especially considering that it’s illegal for the DNI to operate in a law enforcement capacity. So … what was she doing there?
And then the plot thickened. After the raid, Gabbard went to the FBI field office and addressed the agents who were involved in the raid. Again, this is inappropriate, if not illegal. And guess what? It only got weirder from there.
Agents report that she got President Trump on the phone, at which time he gave them all kudos for helping out (paraphrasing, of course).
On the surface, this feels like a conflict of interest. But below the surface — and in a normal non-Trump timeline — this would be the scandal of the century. Trump has been spouting off for weeks (and years) about how he feels elections in which he does not win are somehow fake, fraudulent, or otherwise flawed. I’m not making a huge leap when I say it appears that he’s attempting to retroactively overturn an election he didn’t win, and prepare to overturn unfavorable outcomes of future elections.
Tony Box is a former federal prosecutor and FBI agent. He says that while it’s highly likely that Georgia election officials could sue the government and win, you only have to look to the streets of Minneapolis to understand plan B. Challenge results. Put goons at polling places to intimidate voters.
Trump is blatantly messing with elections now.
