Steven Beschloss & Stuart Stevens | Trump, Ukraine, Iran, Indifference, & Incompetence

Back from Ukraine, Stuart gives an update on his aid work abroad while the U.S. invaded Iran.

Stuart’s recent trip to Ukraine was a tour of courage in action from citizens in the face of almost overwhelming tragedy. But he came home convinced that Ukraine will win this war. They are fighting for their lives and for freedom, after all.

This brings the absurdity of our adventure in Iran into sharp focus. What are we fighting for? Certainly not our lives. We’re not fighting for security or justice or freedom. If anything, the war makes us less safe, is an affront to justice, and restricts the freedom of people around the world (Israelis and Iranians share in their fear, both populations hiding away in their homes or bomb shelters).

Steven Beschloss and Stuart Stevens met to discuss the path ahead and connect the dots between our policies in Ukraine, Iran, and what they mean for the future of our Democracy.
