As we head into 2026, MAGA’s wheels are quickly falling off, with public criticism from Congresswomen Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert. That’s where the discussion between Edwin Eisendrath and veteran Chicago journalist Joan Eposito begins.
Yet we have to look at the long-term – Trump has made serious attempts to end American democracy as we know it. Remember January 6th? And there are global consequences to Trumpism, as well. Europe is largely separating itself from the U.S. and moving on its own in response to Trump’s policies, particularly on Ukraine.
So, what can we do now? The midterms are important both in the short-term and long-term for our country. We know that Trump is going to try to tip the scales, but we must fight back. As Edwin sums it up, “We have to spend our time making sure they’re playing on a level field where … voting is protected.”
As we continue to cover the crucial midterm elections, make sure to tune into It’s the Democracy, Stupid every Friday.
