We’re now more than two weeks into the war with Iran and Trump is sending thousands of Marines into the region. This is a significant escalation, retired Navy Commander Bobby Jones — who served years in the Middle East — told Lincoln Square in a special weekend interview.
"You don’t move people and you sure as heck don’t move ships that do that unless you have plans to put them on the ground. Why put them in harm’s way if you don’t have to?” Bobby notes.
Executive Editor Susan J. Demas also asked Bobby about soaring gas prices as a result of the war, attacks from both sides on water supplies in the region, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth spending more time bashing the media than mourning the 13 U.S. service members who have been killed in the war.
"You’re suppressing that information and at the same time gutting the VA healthcare that they’re [service members] going to need after this is over,” Bobby said. “And you cannot tell them why they’re even there in the first place."
Watch the whole interview and stay tuned for our ongoing coverage of the Iran war. And be sure to call your members of Congress and tell them to stand up to Trump on this conflict.
