Tim Mak on Why We Can't Forget about Ukraine

9

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is still going on — and has, in some ways, entered a new, brutal phase. But it’s hard to find a lot of mainstream media coverage these days, especially beyond small updates you have to search for on news sites.

But if you’re looking for some of the best on-the-ground reporting, you have to subscribe to The Counteroffensive with Tim Mak. Tim and his team are telling stories that matter about the people living through the war in Ukraine, as well covering other critical issues across the globe.

“I was a U.S. Army medic for five years. And did that on the reserve side while I was a correspondent at NPR. So in 2022, NPR sent me to Kiev in case a war might break out,” Tim recalls. “And as it happened, I landed the night the war broke out. I've been running around here ever since basically traveled to every corner of Ukraine and then decided I want to keep covering this war and find some new interesting ways to cover this place.”

That’s why we’ll be regularly checking in with Tim here on Lincoln Square, like with this insightful interview he had with Bobby Jones, a Navy veteran and host of Anchor Watch. You’re not going to want to miss their discussion about Putin’s tactics and how the Trump administration is quietly turning its back on the Ukrainian people.

Don’t miss Anchor Watch at noon ET Tuesday and subscribe to Bobby’s Substack!
