Illinois U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly had enough. The Democrat would rather have been advocating on behalf of her constituents. She has done — and is doing — a lot of hard work on the issue of infant mortality, which is still far, far too common in our country.
But when ICE raided an apartment building in the middle of the night in Chicago, pulling kids out in zip ties, arresting practically everyone, destroying property and leaving residents’ homes in rubble, she began to realize that something must be done.
Then, with the murder of Renee Good in Minneapolis, she knew it was time to act.
She has introduced articles of impeachment against Kristi Noem, and nearly 190 of her House colleagues have signed on (and more have given their tacit approval of the move). There is no guarantee that this move will result in an impeachment conviction, but actions like this are important because they force our elected representatives to take a side.
It also shows the administration that, yes, we see them. We’re watching, and we’re not happy.
Representative Kelly joined Sam Osterhout to walk through her decision to try to impeach the DHS chief and discuss her decision to run for Senate.
