Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove on Kristi Noem's Firing & the Iran War

"We are responsible for making sure that your tax dollars are used appropriately. That is why we have hearings."

“Quite frankly, she never should have been hired in the first place. This is a person who has not had experience dealing with crisis management, disaster mitigation, doesn’t have military experience, doesn’t have law enforcement experience. This was someone who was so hungry to be in this administration that she was willing to take anything.”

That was Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove’s reaction to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s firing by Donald Trump last week. That came just one day Noem’s disastrous hearing in the House Judiciary Committee, where Kamlager-Dove had a memorable line of questioning about her string of scandals.

Here’s a bit of the back-and-forth the California Democrat had with Noem:

The congresswoman, who also sits on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, stopped by Lincoln Square and spoke with Executive Editor Susan J. Demas about the recent fireworks in hearings for both Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi, who refused to acknowledge the Epstein victims during her appearance before the committee.

Asked if she and other committee members received advance notice about the attacks on Iran, Kamlager-Dove responded: “Susan, we got no advance warning. Zero. … And so now here we are, two weeks in, and they’re not sharing the facts because they don’t have the facts.”
