This may be the first time anyone reading this has ever felt something like agreement with Marjorie Taylor Greene. But today, at the gut-wrenching and powerful press conference for Epstein and Maxwell survivors, there she stood. And her words sounded, well, reasonable.
But that is maybe more a sign of our times than of MTG’s changing persona. The fact is, the brave women who stood up were victims — most of them as children — of one of the most deplorable, inhuman monsters of our lifetimes. The more surprising thing, perhaps, is that MTG wasn’t joined by the entire House and Senate.
Where are the other Republicans, who have spent five decades decrying the loss of family values? Who have stayed awake at night worried that teachers are letting kids use litter boxes in schools? Who are more afraid of LGBTQ+ people who just want to be left alone than a proven rapist?
The Epstein files must be released. Any documentation related to the abusers who took advantage of young girls must see the light of day. The obstructionists are willfully ignoring crimes against humanity.
This isn’t just about justice for those women who survived Epstein; this is about stopping other men from harming you and your children.
