Lori Chavez-DeRemer, we hardly knew ye. Seriously, as Cabinet officials go, the former Labor Secretary really flew under the radar when you think of the hoops these toadies jump through just to get through to an audience of one. And yet, that absence from the spotlight wasn’t enough to hide allegations of abuse and misconduct, leading her to resign her post Monday.
Susan J. Demas and Edwin Eisendrath from It’s The Democracy, Stupid look into claims Secretary Chavez-DeRemer was having an affair with member of her security detail, as well as drinking on the job.
“We have another Trump cabinet official who’s bitten the dust. And I know, terribly surprising I’m sure to you, Edwin, it was another woman in his cabinet. And let’s be clear, there are not that many of them,” Susan noted of this shakeup, making Chavez-DeRemer the third woman after DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi to depart within the last two months.
There’s also a redistricting measure on the ballot in Virginia Tuesday. While experts are predicting that the Yes vote could squeak by, what will that measure mean for the fight against Trump?
