“I don't think that Trump's keen on quickly getting somebody confirmed. His first term he loved having acting cabinet members; it allowed him to employ more leverage over his staff and his cabinet members when they were in an acting role,” said Scott MacFarlane, a former award-winning CBS News justice correspondent who’s now on Substack and reports for MeidasTouch.
Scott stopped by The Frank Figliuzzi Show today on Lincoln Square to jump into the DOJ shakeup. He discussed how Bondi repeatedly broke the wall of independence at the department that was once respected by previous administrations.
“This Department of Justice has been in the pocket of the President in so many ways, championing him, trying to prosecute his enemies, it’s not a guarantee it stays that way. So having an acting attorney general could give the president leverage to continue having the Department of Justice serve his interests versus the American people’s interests first,” Scott said.
