It's hard to listen to "both sides" discussions these days. I don't think that it is useful to hash out what is wrong with Democrats. We need the big tent and variety of ideas that Democrats are bringing to the midterms.
Is this show intended to be an argument of Democrat versus Republican? I couldn't listen to most of it because I found Joe Klein's views too far to the right. It just felt punishing.
One thing you're wrong about Joe Trippi, is that it's not just about change. It's about bringing the Democratic party back to it's real ideological base, at least what it attempted to be from Teddy Roosevelt until Reagan; that is for things that actually help the average person. Which means socialism like Franklin Delano's socialism: i.e. - social security. One main thing that Joe Klein is wrong about is that he's a moderate. He's a fucking right wing radical. The future for the Democratic party is reversing the "Reagan revolution" and being socialists like the Scandinavians are socialists, i.e. - socialized medicine, free education through university level, expanded social security, taxing corporations and the rich at Eisenhauer era levels to pay for everything and pay down the deficit, bring down the defense budget to reasonable levels, etc. Joe Klein is also wrong about the popularity of candidates like Mamdani and Abdul, who represent the future of the Democratic party and also the future of America after Trump.
I think Democratic Socialists are taking the party back to FDR, Kennedy and Johnson. I do not find them objectionable. A very few have some wild ideas, but the ones who have won elections don't.
Thank you both for a very informative discussion and conversation. I endorsed Abdul El Sayed. The only reason was because Haley Stevens was had a false claim that Obama endorsed her.
A Tsunami Wave Against PAC $$ And Corruption Is Forming
The electorate is rightfully connecting corruption with campaign $$ in politics and it's not having it.
El-Sayed was outspent by corporate donors, AIPAC, and political Democratic establishment operatives $30 to 1 and won in the much heralded Democratic Senate primary in Michigan eking out a 1% margin win.
This victory sends a clear message to Cheeto and his fascist allies that the American electorate are refusing to buy the oligarchic koolaid and they want their country back.
Cheeto and his Republican fascist party want to tell the country what it’s supposed to look like but in El-Sayed's acceptance speech the electorate is not buying it and wants a practical ideology to represent them.
Another overlooked big win was AfroAmerican Donovan McKinney over Shri Thanadar the incumbent Democrat for Michigan’s CD13 representing Wayne and couty to the southwest with no corporate PAC $$$.
Another win was William Lawrence an articulate unfunded by PAC $$$ easily defeating more centrist candidates in Michigan’s CD7.
WE the People will not be bought off by the billionaire oligarchy. But be ready because the $$$ are coming for your vote. Talk to friends, neighbors, family that greedy criminal politicians and AIPAC are not going to govern the country. French Revolution 2.0 American style. Let the political beheadings begin.
Isn't time that elections (I understand that the states have the right to determine the primary and election period per Constitution - states rights) that there be SPECIFIC TIME FRAMES FOR PRIMARIES like they do in Europe? 90 days before and election should be plenty of time to campaign, get your fund raising in place, as well as insuring that the signatures on the nominations papers are legal????
Also, can we STOP TALKING ABOUT THE 2028 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION AND WHO WILL BE ON THE PRIMARY BALLOTS
I agree with Joe Trippi! I think his analysis is right on about the upcoming vote in November.
I hear a lot of "socialist" comments. Here's a word I don't hear Mr. Klein using: fascism. He's lost his compass.
A vote for Rogers is a vote for Trump, period. We are not Israelis. That's not anti-Jewish, it's just American.

Joe Biden campaign was a mess in Iowa. The whole democratic process was in a mess.
I think starting in South Carolina is dumb also. It makes no sense at all.
Supposedly that's the stand-in for the Black voters in the coalition, to measure electability. Not sure I buy that, but that's the thinking.

This is clickbait bullshit. Dems are united and will unite around candidates. We don't need you to tell us who we are.
