I was there. I am a different person. Now I have a people I can see, I saw, to stand up for, no matter what happens to me. It was a life changing experience, tiny as it was.
It’s really encouraging to see all the positive energy going into these large scale protests in major cities and beyond‼️ That said I think we’re all hungry for change in this country. I’m talking about a change in leadership. We need leaders who look forward with a clear vision of how to take on the major critical problems of our generation. At the moment we have a leadership whose only concerns are self enrichment and self preservation. They are not only destroying our country from within, but they’re making new enemies for us on the global stage and they’re turning our former opponents into soulmates‼️😳 We can no longer tolerate this behavior from our leadership, and therefore WE MUST FIGHT HARDER for changes that benefit everyone, not just a handful of billionaires, oligarchs and power-hungry politicians‼️
I went to the protest in Lexington, Massachusetts and felt the connection to our pro-democracy founders. Thank you, Lincoln Project, for speaking truth to power and standing up for what's right. I'm not a conservative, but I love my country and know we need functioning political parties with a diversity of opinion in order to restore our democracy. I admire your courage, even if our politics differ. We need that, even more now.
Lisa I've said it once and I will continue to say it again and again. We Are the People of the USA and WE believe in Freedom and Democracy! Our Rally yielded 3,000 people and maybe more. The first rally that I attended was in June and was small. I'm hoping that we keep this momentum going because it's evident that only WE the PEOPLE of the USA can take back what has been slipping away from us.
My sit and her husband were in Oregon at no kings ( 2)! They saw the freedom frogs dance! My cousin couldn’t attend do the fact it would put ( 2) members of her family jobs in jeopardy! She has new boyfriend! Yes! My friend of twenty five years bent down, and petted a, cat! These are the little miracles we need in everyday life! Enjoyed watching everyone saying ( no kings2 was a success! It’s a shame on the 250 anniversary, Trump will have a statue un veiled! Disgusting 🤢! At tax payers expense! Go and sin no more Humpty Dumpty We The People would like you out of office! Sorry but this matter should not be a political issue! Good article! Good information!
Wonderful rally on the village green. Children running around joyfully screeching. Plenty of dogs to pet or admirer. A couple of blow-up costumes: A big green frog and a cow. Good speech, poem and songs. Not sure how we managed it, but 1000 were on that green. Easy to meet someone you didn't know. Now a day to rest as we gear up for tomorrow. Thanks, Lisa, for lifting up the rallies and what they meant for us all. ~~Peace~~
Excellent piece. Your opening paragraph said it all. That was the spirit clearly manifested in the Portland, Oregon march we attended. We vastly outnumber the small minority of anti-democracy ideologues at work dismantling our federal institutions. This protest helped us realize this fact, and reaffirmed our shared values and commitment to taking back our nation from the Project 2025 extremists.
We were there and we loved it. I wore a frog hat, and lots of other folks wore colorful costumes of animals, Minute Men and the like. It was peaceful and we celebrated the joy of standing up for ourselves and our neighbors as one. Then this morning I saw that disgusti, juvenile video made by our so-called POTUS of him wearing a crown, piloting a jet (as if) and dumping a gigantic pile of sewage on a crowd of peaceful protestors. He is totally unfit for office, so I wrote to my two Senators asking them to begin impeachment hearings based on this and even worse actions on his part. My Democratic rep spoke at more than a half dozen rallies in his district, holding up our right to protest and congratulating us for being active participants in Democracy. What a contrast!
This actually seems to me like a great opportunity for The Lincoln Project.
They could make an ad, with clips from Trump's own AI-generated video, and pose the obvious question.
"Judging by his own video, Donald Trump seems to think that he can wear a crown, s**t on American citizens standing up for democracy and the rule of law, and get away with it. It's time to remind Donald Trump and all of his enablers that the United States is a nation of the people, by the people, and for the people. No Kings!
That video sounded so unhinged that I did a search to see if there was any mention of it. Unfortunately this appears to be a real (AI-generated, by Trump or his people) thing. Meaning we actually do have a "President" who is this juvenile and this far gone.
From the first article: ""King Trump" is shown flying a jet in a crown and dumping what appears to be feces on purported "No Kings" protesters." There were millions of American citizens showing up in favor of democracy. Does Trump really think that American citizens are fit only to be s**t upon?
Look for it in the NYT. No reel, just the lowdown. And it is low, trust me. I wrote my senators. One, a president is supposed to respect our rights as specified in the Constitution, and second he's supposed to be a mature person (of 35+) at the very least. When I taught in middle school most of my students would never come up with anything this immature and asinine. I asked the Sens to initiate impeachment proceedings on these grounds.
As a point of information, Senators cannot initiate impeachment proceedings.
The House has the power to impeach (accuse) federal officials - including the President. If impeachment charges pass the House, the Senate then decides whether to uphold the charges and remove the official being impeached. I.e., the Senate plays a role analogous to the jury in a criminal trial.
So writing to your Senators can't hurt (especially since it was the Senate where Trump got off before), but Trump is not likely to be impeached as long as RINO "Republicans" who put loyalty to Trump above all else control the House.
In the week preceding the No Kings rallies, it was amazing the glut of coverage the media gave all the MAGAts referring to them as Hate America rallies, and in the hours since the millions and millions of informed citizens marched peacefully in the streets of over 2,700 cities and towns across the country, there has been almost NO coverage by national news networks. Are they afraid of something?

Brilliant!
Proudly and loudly marched in NYC from 47th St to 14th St and back.
This is what democracy looks like.

One more thing. Release the Epstein files, now!"
