"National Weather Service defends forecasts after Texas flooding tragedy sparked criticism from local officials".

But of course it did!! One other comment about the Social Security Administration's Announcement of "good tidings"--everything that comes out of the Trump administration should be viewed with a good amount of skepticism. The jobs' reports, the economic reports and inflation numbers, absolutely everything should be viewed with a discerning eye and ear. As an example, I just caught this headline: "National Weather Service defends forecasts after Texas flooding tragedy sparked criticism from local officials". But of course it did!! This government is infallible. They can do it all with a fraction of the staff and expertise. And, Trump's answer is that, in addition to the multi-billion bill, he's going to overhaul the "ancient" meteorologic system (say Sharpies, Jewish Space Lasers, and drones to take down hurricanes, hahaha). Talk to the families of those campers about how well the local NWS functioned. SMH

Having a major demonstration on a THURSDAY is, IMNSHO, a mistake. Parking will be a bitch, a lot of people are not going to bother to take off work, and of course it has to be held at the absolute hottest time of day when all of us older people are basically going to be suffering from sunstroke out there in front of the State Capitol building. Why TF wasn’t this scheduled for July 4th? I will never understand the logic used by the organizers of these protests, in particular, the lolos at indivisible.org.

MAGA Arrogance And 2026 Election Subversion

Knowing that the budget bill is highly unpopular with the American electorate(only 17% felt the bill was acceptable), one can only surmise one of two things

1 The MAGA/Christian Nationalist movement is willing to take the risk that they will lose the midterm elections and that in a short period of time they will gain the electorate's confidence back again

2 With the successful 2024 election subversion behind them the Nazis are now emboldened that they can subvert the 2026 midterms since they have the program to make them unafraid of manipulating another election Remember the Orange Cheeto saying that if he's elected in 2024 "my beautiful Christians won't have to vote again" Armed with his Palantir software Peter Thiel along with Musk have the AI generative ability to cull out registered voters and Musk has the capability to alter voting machines with his Starlink network The already vigilante challenges that eliminated 3.5m registered voters from the rolls promoted by 40,000 volunteers will also be on the table

The arrogance that the Nazi party has is supported by their above corrupt voter suppression and voter elimination tactics Make it harder to vote and we'll win

So America are we going to let them get away with this?? If there was ever a time for WE the People to stand up for the government we want to see it is NOW

Meanwhile PROTEST PROTEST PROTEST to keep the pressure on this Nazi regime and show other more timid Americans that it's time to VOTE November 2026 Also contact Secty of States in your states and let them know our concerns

I support the work of Lincoln Square, the Lincoln Project, etc.

I am also a fan of facts and evidence. So when I read, "The majority of us want to stay a democracy and continue making progress", I feel the need to comment.

To be sure, this is a nice-to-hear assertion. However, if were a true statement, a true observation, Trump would not be in office, and Republicans would not control all branches of government.

The evidence is quite clear -- the majority either do NOT want us to stay a democracy, or do not care whether or not we stay a democracy. To believe otherwise seems delusional to me.

I do not say this lightly, nor to be overly negative. I say it because, unless we take an eyes wide open assessment of our current state, we cannot even form an evidence-based problem statement, and we will flail in futility to change our inexorable march to 3rd-world status.

Rose-colored glasses, and playing nice do not represent a winning strategy or tactic.

I have read that listening to six minutes of birds singing is equivalent to meditation. Thanks for that and all of your and Lincoln Square efforts to bring the loyal opposition the truth, the facts and the plans that will unseat the despicable bastards that are destroying the economy, democracy, the rule of law and the constitution. Your work is important and needed at this time of crisis brought to us by the trump, his deranged cult and project 2025. I am happy to be a paid subscriber and I look forward to a better America with Lincoln Square leading the way.

I appreciate anyone and everyone that calls out the Asleep and Blind Regime but I hate it when we cut off our noses to spite our faces. This puts us on their level and ends up coming back at us. Here are the facts (albeit AI generated and not fully vetted).

The Social Security Administration (SSA) did issue a notification celebrating the passage of H.R. 1, describing it as "historic tax relief for seniors" and stating that nearly 90% of Social Security beneficiaries will no longer pay federal income taxes on their benefits. However, this communication has been widely criticized as misleading and, in some respects, not entirely accurate.

What the Legislation Actually Does

H.R. 1 increases the standard deduction for seniors—by $6,000 for individuals with an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) under $75,000 and for married couples under $150,000.

It does not directly eliminate the taxation of Social Security benefits. The existing tax code, which taxes Social Security benefits above certain income thresholds, remains unchanged.

The effect of the new deduction is that a much larger proportion of lower- and middle-income seniors will see their tax liability on Social Security benefits reduced or eliminated. Estimates suggest that about 88-90% of Social Security recipients will not owe federal tax on their benefits under the new law.

Why the Notification Is Considered Misleading

The SSA's email and public statements frame the law as eliminating taxes on Social Security benefits for "most" or "nearly 90%" of seniors. This is technically true for a large segment of recipients, but it is not because Social Security income has been made tax-exempt. Instead, it is due to the increased deduction, which only applies below certain income thresholds.

The underlying tax code remains unchanged regarding how Social Security is taxed. Seniors with higher incomes will still pay taxes on their Social Security benefits.

The SSA's messaging has been criticized for potentially leading seniors to believe that Social Security benefits are now universally tax-free, which is not the case. This could cause confusion and tax filing errors, especially among those who still owe taxes under the old rules.

Expert and Public Response

Tax professionals and commentators have called the SSA's communication "intentionally misleading" and "chock full of disinformation," as it conflates an increased deduction with a repeal of Social Security benefit taxation.

There is concern that seniors may mistakenly stop withholding or paying taxes on their Social Security income, only to face unexpected tax bills later.

Media outlets and independent analysts have clarified that the law helps most, but not all, seniors—and does not fundamentally change the tax treatment of Social Security.

Bottom Line

The SSA's notification overstates the impact of H.R. 1. While the bill does provide substantial tax relief for many seniors, it does not make Social Security benefits universally tax-exempt. The communication is, at best, overly optimistic and imprecise; at worst, it could be considered misleading and potentially harmful if it causes seniors to misunderstand their tax obligations

Thank you, Susan‼️ hearing you speak in the warm sun with the birds singing in the background was somehow very soothing on a day when I just feel angry and sad. There is much work to be done, of that we can be sure. Looking forward to more inspiring, informative and valuable content from the Lincoln Square media and thanks again‼️🥰

We need to educate the public in what we think DJT will do - declare national emergency and implement marshal law to "delay" the midterms (i.e., never have them). We need to work now with millions at PEACEFUL PROTESTS, so we don''t give him an excuse.

When I got that Social Security email, I thought we now will have to doubt every word that comes out of our federal agencies. When are we going to be able to put trusted professionals back in there again and let them work for us?
