Trump and his administration incite violence, use violence, and pardon violent felons when it suits them. Catching a would-be attacker outside the WHCD doesn't change that.
End violence? In a country where every person is his own vigilante by right in the 2nd Amendment, where businesses practice economic violence against labor and customers, and where Il Deuce Trump practices violence against the Nation and the world as a matter of policy, violence is the sine qua non of “being somebody”. Violence means money, status, and power. We are become a nation of civilian condotierre, leaders of our own mercenaries, in a country where Il Deuce Trump is the Capo and the military is his mercenary army. Karoline “The Wail” Leavitt reminds us daily that those of us not part of Il Deuce Trump’s circle are weaklings and suckers, not fit to participate in the new “Golden Age.” We will be mocked and violated for resisting this mindset, but I believe it can be changed. Great minds have pointed the way for us, but it is up to us to believe and follow through.
I knew that they weren't in dire straights but when people hear gun shots in the hotel banquet I guess they got a little afraid! I also know that there were a lot of more "high" profile shootings on Saturday than the Correspondents Dinner.
Our nation and our people--particularly our children--are captured in a state of affairs where guns have become an answer. Not only do we need leaders to calm the waters, but it will take all of us. "When will (we) ever learn...?" and it is "a long time passing..." Thank you Edwin.
I found it troubling to see all those journalists decked out in expensive finery hobnobbing with those politicians, equally if not more extravagantly bedecked. This might seem trivial, but not if you look at the deeper values supposedly represented and meant to be upheld by journalists as in a real sense the eyes, ears and heroes of the people. Not a good look.
Republicans are quite united in their opposition to gun control legislation. This is an open invitation to violence. And many of us have serious unanswered questions about how this attack was planned, who planned it and how this happened.
You will not hear calls for an end to gun violence coming from politicians in DC, especially not from Republicans. Instead what you get is Republicans exploiting an incident for their own political gain. We will now pay for the Epstein Memorial Ballroom and Bordello over the top of the Trumpenfeurhrer bunker while he pockets the donations already collected. The corporate media will amplify Republican lies about violent rhetoric from Democrats. And, as usual, nothing will be said or done about the fact that this country is awash in guns, machines of death manufactured by companies that have been granted immunity from consequences by Republicans who take their bribes to fund their campaigns.
