It's not the crime, it's the cover-up. It's not the cover-up, it's the drip-drip-drip. Trump himself felt forced into dragging it out and trying to squelch it through brute force. That's because the posture he had established and maintained against reality itself was his mythology of inevitability and infinite power. He had no other option.
If he can pull it off, this could be King Charles' "Tylenol Moment" for the monarchy. The full disclosure and the image of forthright transparency, combined with a narrative of 'heroic self-sacrifice', could strengthen its hold on the British hearts, rather than weaken it. It could wind up being so very British as to achieve mythic status.

UK monarchy is special. The US government structure isn’t. Trump might think he’s a king but, no matter how he lives, adorns, rules, or acts, he can never be a king with a capital K.
If full disclosure would implicate Democrats more than Republicans, as Trump asserts, then you know Trump would have been all for it before 2020. He loves bringing others down, especially those he labels as his enemies. It is unlikely that more Democrats than Republicans have solid evidence against them in the files. Not that there aren't scoundrels among them, but the holier than thou Republicans are so typical of the holier than thou stereotype, 'I couldn't help myself, the devil made me do it, but Jesus has forgiven me.'
Now Andrew, formerly known as Prince (sorry about that) made truly bad decisions up and down the line. From the worst, wanting, and perhaps having, some young woman to the lying and playing the victim. While his brother Charles, the King, isn't exactly known for his sterling character, he did realize that the danger, not just embarrassment, that his brother has brought the Mountbatten-Winsor dynasty could only be ended through a thorough legal colonic flush, bringing it all out into the open, no matter how foul it was.
As for Trump, he both insists his stuff don't stink, but that he's the original Teflon man and can get away with anything just because of who he has always been. The problem with original Teflon is it wore off eventually, and stuff stuck until the pan was thrown away.

I admit to being one of those readers who keeps telling friends that Trump's MAGA cult will never abandon him. And I still believe that, no matter what this authoritarian creep does to our country or the world. I also believe there is nothing--absolutely nothing--Trump won't do in an effort from keeping any damning Epstein evidence about him becoming public. Even start a war, if it provides distraction. My question is: what will it take before those in power--Congress, the judiciary--as opposed to us without great power, but who speak out daily against the biggest asshole in American history, stand up to this guy once and for all?
