>>“He’s Not a King — or He’d Have Shut Down the No Kings Protests.”

The MAGA Republicans never act in good faith. I guess next time we'll have to write:

"We want no kings and that's what Trump's trying to do: crown himself. "

But that's too long for a sign or bumper sticker, so we'll continue with No Kings and let the MAGAs figure it out.

Just the fact that they are pushing back on this as if it were literal and not symbolic shows to me, at least, why they think they are behaving like good Christians. Ignoring the real message in favor of a gotcha verse. These people are profoundly stupid and believe we are the stupid ones. I want my old timeline back, please!

Cheeto And His Billionaire Allies Attack America’s Welfare State

Investing in people with less financial means pays off in higher graduation rates for kids, higher rates of moving onto higher education, less crime, and more stable communities And like it or not, America has provided for those with less means for almost a century since the Great Depression As troubling as it is, there is a definite possibility in food insecurity in this country

So Cheeto and his Nazi allies/billionaire buddies have decided that the time is up for all these welfare recipients because the Nazi party has decided that they’re tired of this “gimme” welfare state And just like the ACA(Obamacare) fiasco, the Nazis wanted to get rid of the ACA but had no plan with which to replace it, the Nazis want to destroy the welfare safety net and food security for those less fortunate because those “takers” don’t deserve it and don’t know how to replace with another plan

This Nazi approach toward the welfare state mirrors the cruelty toward the immigrant population as demonstrated by ICE but this time the cruelty is lodged toward the less fortunate of our society So yes the Nazi party is cruel and insensitive to the needs of those who need our help The Cheeto’s, Stephen Miller’s and Nazis of the world do not deserve our vote Get rid of all of them!!

And he needs to be VOTED out the next time around. "SOME" people voted him back in. And now they wish they hadn't! But what many of these people have to realize is there is no REDO. Nope they put him in because they wanted the price of eggs to drop. Well guess what "bird flu" season is back and once again the price of eggs will go up and who is "HE" going to blame then? I feel that voting people into office shouldn't be like a business per se, but we got a con man none the less. I believe WE THE PEOPLE have the power to change things and I believe if we try hard enough we will succeed. And I hope also that we vote out all the others offending parties. Just say you are all FIRED just like he always seems to do. Businessmen make terrible leaders because they are always looking for deals. Unfortunately, that isn't the way government should work!

Andrew’s analysis is correct. I would add one thing. No one at the No Kings demonstrations was saying that Trump is literally a king. What we were saying is an analogy: that he’s trying to rule *like* a king. That is, his goal is to rule as if he’s above the law and not subject to any kind of checks and balances. It is disingenuous for the Republicans to pretend that they don’t understand the concept of an analogy.

There's also the fact that, privately, Trump brags about being both the president and the speaker of the house, so tight is his control over Holy Mike Johnson. The reason the house 'recess' has been extended to November 1 is because Trump wants it that way.

So, let's recap: Trump controls the executive branch, at least half the legislative branch, and the supreme court. There's a name for someone with that much control over a government......👑.

You're saying the GOP is now comprised of feckless sycophants who debase their integrity by bowing to America's Mad King?! GASP!! <<--my shock is palpable

From the party of Lincoln to the party of stinking, traitorous, congressional court jesters clowning themselves in the service of the mad king as the people suffer from the ling's reckless, harmful, Gilded Age, racism, hate, and overt incompetence. trump's king fantasies do not exist without a cowardly GOP congress and kkkristian nationalist, corrupt, conservative scotus. Of course, having a demented, deranged, deluded, cult feeding his insatiable appetite as their next savior gives trump's disfigured mind all the worship he requires to continue his anti democratic, destructive, criminal ways.

At one point in in American history, during the McCarthy communist rampage, someone was strong enough to finally say, have you no decency? Right now there is absolutely no decency in the republican Duma or the conservative, scotus crown court.

All this destruction for the price of eggs. Americans gave up liberty, security, and respect for lies, hatred, scams, cons, and the dismantling of America's safty net and world respect. The price of eggs became much more expensive as Americans sold their souls for a cheaper omelet.

Unfortunately, I cannot disagree with your assessment at all... Eventually, the economic pain will be so severe for the cult that they might see a glimmer of reality. If they refuse to acknowledge their own stupidity, there will be no one there to help them.

Yes their illusions and prejudices can be self-correcting to some degree--as we have seen from the still-crazy MTG of Georgia striking some very rational poses in regard to things that affect her family and many of her constituents lately. There is always a big mental barrier to changing one's mind--human beings hate to be seen as inconsistent or mistaken. They are in fact paranoid of that.

That is quite true. The followers of Jim Jones and other cults would rather sacrifice themselves and their children in order to never have to admit they were very, very, wrong about their choices in life. I would imagine many, if not most, trump cultists will do the same.

Exactly! BUT there is that movement I have seen on Kinzinger's Substack about that guy who not only left MAGA with great courage, he is, like Harriet Tubman, helping others to escape their mental slavery. I forget the name, I'm sorry.

I agree 100%, Andrew. And the only people who would buy such a facile argument as “Trump can’t be a king” are the same sycophantic dipshits that already support him. I didn’t realize it’s possible to drink the (Jim Jones style) Kool-Aid yet still be living and breathing…and continuing to watch Fox “News.” How does it work?

Well, said Andrew. Clear and to the point. The numbers are telling. The Republican attempts at rebuttal are feeble. Where have their thoughts of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness gone? These are the words for all of us together--that even means the Republicans, but it seems they have forgotten how to share. Thanks for all you do. Take care.
