How the brass responds is absolutely critical. They may be as Gandalf, approaching from the East on the dawn of the fifth day….

Americans are being injured and some have died. Venezuelans have died at the hands of our military. They have abandoned their oaths to the constitution or they would have already removed this Trump regime. The US military is as corrupt as the Imperial Red Court.

Brilliant, Evan. But day before yesterday I read that one of those generals (whose name escapes me) is now involved at some level of oversight with Trump's attempts and successes at deploying troops into Blue cities, in clear violation of any number of laws. Look into this for us, please? It's hard to stomach the notion that the huge, dangerous and seemingly idiotic call for all top brass to convene at Quanitco was actually held for the purpose (behind the scenes) to identify one or two generals who'd agree to be Quislings. But it might be true.

Thank you for this article. I have thought long about this, will the generals and admirals follow an illegal order and if they do what troops will follow their illegal orders. Chilling. Hearing this as if Hanoi Hannah or even Tokyo Rose were scripting it is brilliant writing and scary as hell. As a veteran I often wonder how I would respond to an illegal order. Stay strong everyone.

Nothing military about me, but I hear your haunting call and message loud and clear. What a choice set before these leaders and all of us: "Will you be guardians of this great nation, or curriers of a regime." I should think and hope that our generals and admirals had the same thoughts as you, dear Caller, Hold firm to your oath. For me your message bought back a memory of being in Santiago, Chile in the early 1970's. My friend I were just tourist. But for some reason we both felt uncomfortable. People weren't moving around. There was a military parade of sorts, and no one was watching. We were sort of clueless, but we changed our tickets and got out of there as quickly as we could. All of these years later I am feeling that discomfort. I didn't think our country would have troops in the streets and our government trying to use our military to wage war on all of us. So, Caller, keep calling---I'm listening, hope our generals and admirals are listening too. It's our country and there is no flying off to somewhere else. Take care.

Many military leaders know this much: we are destroying ourselves. Looks like they will watch while America burns.

Good writing technique to make a point. I believe each person in the audience, bound by experience and oath, was fortified against the ham-handed approach to instill fear masquerading as inspiration or leadership. They each recognized a political meeting was not a military planning session. I would not worry about how their subordinates might react, too. By this time, most have forgotten the day and are just doing what they do. On the other hand, dealing with incoming recruits has become more challenging. What is the mindset of those with limited education and experience battered by the upheavals of our times that have exaggerated the problems always faced by youth? Recruit training must be intense and geared to removing the unqualified and incompetent.
