I'm fine with upping Dems appeal to men, particularly young men. And I detest the "privileged white male" sneering rhetoric of the left wing. But I don't see challenging incumbents as a good strategy. Building while destroying is not an effective strategy to win back the country. And substituting ageism for whatever dissing younger men feel is a nonstarter and absolutely abhorrent. Experience is worth a lot too. For that reason, I'm not onboard with Hogg's mission and I feel he's shooting himself and his cause in both feet.
"Somewhere along the line in the Trump-era of American politics" Worst is yet to come. Donald "The Beast" Trump is building a wall once again. Colossal tariff wall that is the beginning of the end for the system of down. At first the beast will pull the plug out of the global economy. The worst financial crisis of human history will pull a swarm of the banks underwater and the bank run begins. Then the beast will collapse a mountain of debt shattering the backbone of the monetary system causing a systemic risk to realize. Finally the beast will cast American citizens into a system slavery under the name of Ronald Wilson Reagan, just to "honor his legacy" count the number. After the destruction a new world order will be established in the US. And the Golden Age begins from the ruins of the world wide collapse. All of the system slaves will love it. No more cash - just digital transactions. No more traditional criminal activity. No more tax evasion. No more transactions without the "all seeing eye". Outcasts will hate the world without freedom, hope and privacy. To cover up the mess and distract the public by smoke and mirrors, the beast will engage in a war with Iran. Lies and deceit, corruption and decay, dancing on the graves will continue. Until; Black hole sun, won't you come, won't you come... I want to play a game. Time has come to opt out of the empire of filth. Live or die...
Dig deeper—research what happened at the DNC when there was a number of resignations at the top during the Hilary Clinton campaign due to violation of supporting one candidate over the other within the party.
Does Debbie Wasserman ring any bells with you? Critically talk to Ken Martin, DNC Chairman who should be interviewed by you about this!
Good piece. I am 100% in agreement here. I was very excited that David won a spot as a vice chair @ the DNC. As I watch my party I am starting to see a divide between the centrists (becoming this way during the Clinton era in the name of bipartisanship which for Repubs means 'more our way') and our more progressive faction, younger and more pragmatic. The establishment Dems need to really get a grip on this. I see what David is doing & I agree with him. It is a REAL threat to the establishment. They are out of touch as one can see by them taking Carville's advice by staying quiet much to many Dems dismay and acting like this Regime is politics as usual and being legislators instead of an opposition party. I truly hope someone within the Dem party reads and takes this advice seriously.
I see this. We do have an age problem. Went to a local Dem party rally in Hilo, HI last week. As with all the protests I've been to here, majority there was older white people (like me, age72). The rally started off w/ an (older white) man known & respected here, businessman who is also a musician, playing/singing w/ guitar some protest songs – Dylan, CSNY, Neil Young - all from the '60s. So sure, all us oldtimers could sing along. And I thought, WTF! This is not gonna help get fresh blood into the fight! David Hogg is right on. Mayor Pete did the right thing going on that bro podcast. The younger folk don't even know what we are losing, young men rightly or not do feel pushed aside. We turn up our noses at our own peril.
I feel like the age of most of the reps in Congress are Gen X and Mellinials, so who, exactly, are these "octogenarians" you speak of here? Who does Hogg think are the elders that need to get kicked out?
Purity tests came in with Bernie Sanders and his supporters in 2016 and still exist today. Maybe the solution is for socialist progressives, young and old, to split from the Dem party and form their own?
When governments need money to fund their debt spending they use bond yields to entice investors to buy bonds Since going off the gold standard in 1971 when the US and other governments ran out of money they simply printed more ie QE(quantitative easing) But when governments can no longer afford the interest rate of their debt they can no longer just print money and issue enticing bond yields This is a debt trap The Japanese economy is on the verge of collapse with a debt to GDP ratio of a whopping 260%!!! The US and the EU are in similar situations as their economies are also highly leveraged ie too much debt and issued bond yields not enough to pay the interest
The US debt to GDP ratio is 130% and will get worse with the Orange Cheeto’s tax cuts for the uberwealthy causing all three credit rating services to downgrade US bonds on top of the imposed tariffs Western economies are all tied together and if one economy goes it will have a domino effect It’s now just a matter of time for the US to collapse as well Cheeto bankrupted 5 companies and now he’s about to bankrupt the entire country with his tariffs and tax breaks This is eerily similar to the 1930’s when the country was at the end of credit bubble(roaring 1920’s) and the Smoot Hawley Tariff Act
Get out of credit(dollars and stocks…equity market) and buy gold or silver and stay away from Bitcoin The end is near
I’m with David Hogg. If we continue to be a party of elders, frantically holding onto power and rejecting change, we seal our fate. I am 67, and have a vision I wish elder politicians would embrace: change is welcome, new ideas are energizing (whether or not they take hold), transition is inevitable, and I will continue to find ways to be a visionary, productive member of society as long as I am able. Doing the same thing in the same way forever is not part of this equation.
I'm older than Trump (to put this in perspective). My father held a higher level position in the Federal Government and I always admired his common sense. When he retired (a long time ago) he was asked by politicians to run for a position in the Idaho Senate. His answer was NO - and his response was "No one should serve in a political office who is over the age of 65". When one tunes into a Congressional hearing it is always full of Pompous old men who sit on their big fat behinds and appear to gloat over their status. We do NOT need a bunch of old "horses asses" running our country - we desperately need NEW blood.
Dems, I don’t know how to help you get your sh!t together. If you don’t, WE -- you, me, and every other democracy loving citizen will be hung separately by Mad King Donald, The Corrupt. Do you need a mascot you can get behind? Bring back Francis the Talking Mule. Or pretend your mascot is Donkey Kong. Bless me Saint Joan of Snark. I snark therefore I am ✨🙏🇺🇸💫
Well, this is on the nose. Hogg's been on my radar for a bit now, the DNC rejects him at their peril. I'll go further, the Dems are on a death march to irrelevancy. There are several reasons for this, but top of the list is Trumpism. The loud, misogynistic, iconoclastic, fascism-curious MAGA clown show is the perfect foil for a party that has gone from being smug and lazy in their dominance to smug and lazy in the opposition. The party spews its lines about how 'frightened' they are of how 'dangerous' things are being done to our democracy by Trump. But then, their primary message is "whaddaya gonna do, vote for the Nazi?!? You have no choice, peasant."
Pay attention: the REASON the shit got kicked out of them by Black men supporting Trump was BECAUSE the Black vote has 'always' been so reliable. Maybe Black men are just not having it anymore. This is so stupid, we shouldn't have to be talking about it, yet here we are. The Dems don't think they have to do anything differently, because it's so "self-evident" that no thinking person wants to live in a totalitarian hellhole, ergo vote for the Democrat. Not much incentive to try harder.
I'm a little skeptical about the 'infinitely big tent' of Dem lore. There were jokes 30 years ago about 'well, how would you feel about opening it up to welcome Nazis?'. Yeah, that was a real knee-slapper. Didn't age well, though. Some people can't be welcomed, and the idea of "educating" people into compliance works not at all.
Hogg's lesson for you is that you have to bring people in as they are. If they don't fit as they are, if what you're saying isn't their cup of tea, or if you twist yourself into knots to not honestly address things that are of concern to your constituents because this group or that will be 'offended', then you will fail. You have failed.
He is grifter that will use the people around him. He left FL and never came back when FL needed his voice. David lives in Perfect candidate headspace which something I critique Dems for. Why not ask Malcolm Kenyatta who is doing the real work? David creates a circus over neutrality rules that makes the democratic process better. Yes we Dems do have a young men problem. David doesn’t offer solutions only blame and we are the party of freedom of choice freedom to love and basically you do you boss .
I'm a 65 year old Hispanic woman, retired teacher of 35 years, and I've been saying that since 2003!! I was on the mall for Obama's first inauguration and that's when I was floored by the members of Congress. The majority were old white men!!!! I was shocked. I'd seen various members of Congress on the news, but to see the entire group together! Wake up call that we needed to be electing more younger men and women of different races, etc.!!! Who could we call that we could voice our opinion to keeping and recruiting young men into the party??

They should do what they have to do, it's truly a wrong to leave people out at all. Invite all that want in and you will get your voters back.

I believe we just can’t afford in-fighting right now. We need to be lazar focused on the mid-terms.

We can't afford to split. But, I have been wondering how the party is going to combine all of the differing views.
Bad Global Economic News Don't Be Distracted
