Christian Nationalism And A Gold Standard: Biblical Economics

America is founded on a grounding principle of the separation of Church and State. In a New Republic piece by Katherine Stewart(https://bit.ly/4x3loIv), she outlines the CNPP’s(Christian Nationalist Pedo Party) effort to blur if not outrightly disintegrate this separation. Once felt to be fringe, the movement has gained momentum.

Another long held but subtheme amongst the now CNPP is a movement to a metallic standard and although not discussed much these days, there is a Constitutional argument that the country should be on a metallic standard. And there are financial commentators such as Dalio and Kowasaki saying that a financial collapse of the dollar is imminent and that one of the fixes would be a return to a gold standard for the country.

What is bothersome is that if the fiat dollar is to undergo complete debasement and a return to a gold standard is one of the solutions politically, it will serve as validation of the CNPP’s position which would reinforce their position of the disintegration of separation of Church and State.

As she writes, “Freeman has been a featured speaker on the ReAwaken America tour, the traveling conspiracy-ridden roadshow drawing thousands to megachurches around the country. His work as a radio host includes interviewing a roster of MAGA-aligned figures, who generally nod along as he peddles his message that “the dollar-based framework is about to fail” and that “state-based transactional modern pirate money (gold and silver) is the answer! It is the gold (and silver) bullet to stop the Great Reset.”

In 1929 Hitler wrote, “We tolerate no one in our ranks who attacks the ideas of Christianity. Our movement is Christian.” The CNPP is moving the Christian evangelicals, the business community, and they hope the country toward fascism, perhaps validated by an economic position. But two things can be true at once. Yes, a return to a gold standard would be good, and yes, separation of church and state would be good as well.
