This is one of the first conversations that hits my angst over this rupture created by Trump and co. Cooperation in trade, in defense, in development and humanitarian causes are the heart of the post WWII architecture. The architecture is not perfect and the conflicts in eastern Europe and the Middle East have historical irritants based on the hubris of those who constructed the architecture.
However, it is worth salvaging the best parts. Don't use trade as a weapon, it can underpin economic development, free countries from angst over access to materials and goods that reduces political pressure for imperialism.
Give attention to international institutions and their ability to constrain dangerous or inhuman conflicts. We need to find multilateral institutions that can reduce the chance of unilateral action like that of Russia, Israel and now a broken U.S.
Facts and truth have wilted in the US. Can we restore trust within the country and eventually the world starting with trusted allies that Trump has alienated with his “MY WAY” or nothing?
Two miracles are needed: A peaceful change in administration's in the US.
A serious effort to rebuild coalitions of the well-intentioned. They are needed to deal with climate change, climate and political refugees, a return to life saving battles against poverty and disease wherever it is on the globe.
I identify with the label as a pessimist who thinks it can still change. If we can't unseat Trump that thinking will be hard to sustain.
We are all so very sorry for the pain the poor choice and dark hearts of our right wing brethren's votes have inflicted on people all over the world. Those conservatives in our nation who could not see decency or the lack thereof when it was right in front of their eyes have betrayed us all.
I am, too, concerned about Germany. The PEOPLE of Germany seem very fascistic right now (like our trumpers), unaware of how their words sound to us all.
I am hopeful we are in the darkest part night now. If we can only keep the pressure on, hard, it will be a dawn on the other side of this darkness.
WE are all watching the MSM report on the Iran war and the central focus is Cheeto and his not only illegal but costly war for essentially nothing gained to our country’s national security.
So why is it that in the same breath while critiquing Cheeto is not the fascist Israeli government not being brought into the conversation. MSM seems to have conveniently forgotten that it was Netanyahu who talked Cheeto into bringing America into his long wanted fantasy conflict. There are two issues with this.
First keeping the fascist Israeli government out of the line of MSM fire is curious as this fascist regime is America’a partner in this war. Why does Israel get a pass? Because part of America’s negotiation has at least been blown up twice due to their Lebanon military operations that took Iran out of a agreed upon settlement. But secondly, is MSM keeping Israel out of the news because the American Jewish community with its AIPAC political funding arm is a little skitterish about being linked to the war. Maybe it’s running an antisemitic protection scheme. Whatever there’s no excuse for MSM’s cover.
