Never in all my born days have I seen a leader be so vain and so hell bent on plastering his name all over Washington, DC! I think it disgusting. Dwight Eisenhower got his name on places posthumously as has many of the other prior leaders. But the magnitude of what he's trying to do is so corrupt and it's obviously way too gaudy for the people of this nations and Washington, DC!
There’s a town in Pennsylvania, Centralia, that has been abandoned because of long inaccessible burning underground coal seams. That image reminds me of Trump’s effect on American culture. No longer viable but continually polluting and endangering to the point of destroying life as it has been known to exist for decades. We may put Trumpian politics behind us but we will pay a steep price for our indulgence of his ego beginning in the 1970’s.
I disagree that Trump is concerned with immortality. His psyche will not let him appreciate that someday he will not be here. He wants to SEE his face and name on everything because he's a malignant narcissist. Like the toddler who can't conceive that anything existed before him, so his parents could not have had a childhood, Trump cannot conceive of anything existing after he doesn't. And he couldn't care less about it. He doesn't want a legacy so much as self aggrandizement in the here and now, where he can reassure himself that he exists.
The only places the trump name should be allowed is on toxic waste landfills and sewage treatment plants. I will pay extra not to fly into the Palm Beach airport...
Trump is afraid, and rightly so, that when he's gone ever sign of him will be erased. As such he's trying to build so many monuments to himself that he will take decades to erase them all. What else would be we expect from a paranoid malignant narcissist sliping ever deeper into dementia by the day surrounded by people who depend on him to continue to build their ill gotten wealth and stay out of prison.
