Being across the pond in the UK, I'm there with you in spirit but also in solidarity. Your fight for your democracy is being watched around the world and wherever Trump travels there will be protests and UK will show up! To all my US friends, keep up the good trouble & remember there are more of you than there are of them!
It was breathtaking and so enheartening because the last few months we have often felt unheard, alone and nearly hopeless. The huge positive response from those driving by made it feel even more worthwhile and forced any Maggots to see how the real majority feels. Of course, the GOP has multiple plans to prevent us from effectively expressing our outrage.
We had at least 15,000 in Milwaukee! It was completely peaceful and totally positive. This is what the pro-democracy movement is all about. Don’t let anyone change that narrative.
Even in deep red small town Kalispell, Montana, there were approximately 1,500 attendees (we don't have the final number yet). What was most surprising was that about 80% of the vehicles driving by us were supportive. We got a lot of enthusiastic waves, horn honking, and thumbs ups! There were, of course, the usual MAGA mobiles driving by flipping us off and revving their diesel engines, but there were so few of them that they were making a loop and the same vehicles were passing by over and over. It was their version of recycling, lol!
Cluster of village groups--centered in one of the villages--had big rally. Inspirational chanting, signs, singing, a small dramatization on Bill of Rights, an exceptional speaker and one original poem. It was a great day. Exceeded 600 participants. Of course we need to keep working. Need to reach others.
The Bride and I attended the protest in Ardmore, PA (suburban Philadelphia). My best estimate was that there were about 1,000 people lining the busiest intersection in town. It was impossible to walk up and down the protest route--there were too many people. There were lots of great signs and while many of the participants were gray-hairs (like me), there were also quite a few younger participants. Most of the drivers honked in approval, and many were shooting videos while they were driving. We only saw one Trumpster displaying a sign while driving--he was booed (That's a Philly-thing.).
Had a very good turnout yesterday in deep red Ketchikan, Alaska. It was such an encouraging experience. I had no idea that we'd see as much support as we did, but a headcount put the crowd at more than 300...in Ketchikan! And lots of passing cars honked their support. It was entirely peaceful. I sure hope Alaska's 3 Republican members of congress took note! In addition to lots of "No Kings" signs, there were signs telling Sen. Sullivan to do his job and provide some actual oversight! We don't approve of the fascist path they're taking us down! As a veteran of the infantry, I am so disappointed in the way the Army is being politicized. In the six years I served, we never gave any thought to the president's political affiliation. He was the commander-in-chief...it didn't occur to us that the president might use us as political props. God, how I despise tRump for what he's doing to the military.
I hope all pro-democracy patriots feel as uplifted today as I do! Yesterday was a beautiful and inspiring display of real patriotism and love of country. That Donnie's Tanx and Gunz, forced-participation party was an utter flop is the cherry on the sundae! I do feel bad for our armed forces that a celebration of 250 years of duty, honor and sacrifice was appropriated by the least respectful commander-in-chief in our history. The army deserved better than that.
But despite Donnie's wannabe coronation, the No Kings protests in every part of our country showed that true patriotism can't be bought or packaged and needs no corporate sponsors. I'd also like to point out that the celebration of Pope Leo in Chicago drew at least 3 times as many participants as Donnie's special boy 'perade'.
It feels the like maybe the ground shifted yesterday. I hope that's the case. Also, a little hometown pride if I may: today is the 250th anniversary of my home state of tiny little Delaware declaring its independence from Great Britain AND Pennsylvania. Happy Separation Day, Delaware! ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
Yes. I noticed that the press seems skittish about estimating crowd size. I learned to count the house when I played in a rock & roll band because club owners would try to discount payment because they had a "bad night."

Amidst one of the most tumultuous weeks in U.S. history where we witnessed a president deploy troops to a US city against the expressed demands of state and local officials, a major escalation in the conflagration in the Middle East, and a political assassination, Trump's big day finally arrived.
What transpired can only be described as a Greek comedy. His face foretells impending dread...
The parade in DC was forced to start a half hour early because of incoming weather. DC residents were saying online the air was even more humid than usual. The Swamp settled into a thick rainy haze just as the parade was scheduled to begin.
But the real problem wasn't weather— it was crowd size.
DC is an absolute ghost town. As the parade began, news outlets on the ground all reported the crowd—predicted to be 200,000 people—was a mere fraction. One New York Times reporter described the energy as 'desultory.' The tepid and unenthusiastic attendees that did show up couldn't muster as much as a cheer, exhausted and drained from standing in the hot steaming rain for hours.
The US Army's speaker system blared John Fogerty's 'Fortunate Son', a famous song about the working class people who are forced to go to war and sacrifice everything while draft-dodging, silver spoon rich kids like Trump simply pay for a phony doctor's note. The irony was likely unintentional, yet another symptom of a decaying empire unable to maintain a coherent narrative. Speaking of incoherence, the bored troops marched in the sloppiest lines that would make U.S. Army George S. Patton slap a haux.
A video of the parade widely circulating on social media depicts an ancient 80-year-old tank plodding down Constitution Ave, the crowd so eerily quiet the only thing you could hear is the rusty tank treads squeaking, no less diminished than the man it was intended to honor. The video continues for several agonizing minutes with the only audible sound the squeaking of the rusty tank and the soldiers' heads peeping out of holes gasping for air trying not to suffocate.
Trump basically used $50 million of our tax money to humiliate himself. Outside the 10 miles of tall fencing and concertina wire wrapped around DC's buildings, and the empty streets now degraded from 30 ton tanks, a nationwide rebellion was afoot.
More than 9 million people came out today for #NoKings in the largest protest against an American president in history.
The thousands of photos and videos online from #NoKings showcase how many millions hit the streets, how positive our energy was, how peaceful and organized we are, that no amount of right-wing disinformation could obscure the stark reality: that our movement has the Juice and MAGA ain't got shit.
Today we found our voice. Today we found each other. Today we reclaimed our beloved Stars and Stripes.
Today we birthed a great and mighty social movement dedicated to saving our democracy from the predator oligarchs who are robbing all of us blind, while they buy politicians and redirect our rage towards oppressed groups, like immigrants and trans people.
Today was the day we begin to turn the tables, not just on Donald Trump, but on the billionaire takers who contribute nothing to our society but an organized system of wealth extraction and widespread deprivation, bolstered by a rickety coin-operated fascist presidency.
"Rise like Lions after slumber. In unvanquishable number, Shake your chains to earth like dew. Which in sleep had fallen on you – Ye are many – they are few."
Hadn't planned to protest but my husband urged me to get off my butt, forget about my sore legs and protest in town. The rally was big considering it was kind of put together later by some folks. They also had a "Juneteenth" celebration in our little town as well yesterday. It was a beautiful day all around!

I was so proud of my community. They surprised me with a big turnout for a small California town!
Naples, FL had a >1000 turnout!!

Shelley! I had to look it up, but what a wonderful reference. Thank you!

Thanks for LP’s daily work! Cheers to the entire team! 👏🏼👏🏾👏
I totally agree! I really on Lincoln Square daily!!
Ignorance and tyranny must be confronted every minute or everyday, to rid the United States of America of this blight.
I was sad that I missed participating but I found one in kissimmee fl and Honked like crazy
Being one of the protestors on the receiving end of the honks, I assure you, they meant SO MUCH!
