Words that Define Donald Trump and the GOP
They've plunged us into the midst of an unprecedented self-inflicted disaster. And they own it all.
Karen Tallian is head of the Indiana Democrats. Yes, there are Democrats in Indiana, and this year they are running in every state senate seat, and 91 of 100 house seats. That’s an amazing accomplishment. She told me she goes to events around the state and is often asked to say a few words.
She says, okay, I’ll say a few words. But I’m going to say Republican words … Then she starts: DOGE, ICE and gerrymandering.
It’s brilliant. The list of “Republican words” could be even longer: Epstein, pedophile, tariffs, ballroom, gas prices, censorship, and Iran.
They are the words of an administration and a president who have plunged us into the midst of an unprecedented self-inflicted disaster. The world’s most important waterway is blockaded both by Iran and the United States. The entire world is suffering, and they correctly blame us for this. What does the President have to say about this? Ballroom.
Ukraine has done the impossible and is holding off the might of Russia without our help and over the objections of both Trump and J.D. Vance. The free world is moving on without us. What do we hear from Republicans? Censor Jimmy Kimmel.
Here at home, Trump inherited the strongest economy on the planet and shot if full of holes with his tariffs and his billionaire-first economic policy. Inflation is up. Job growth is down. Health insurance is too expensive for millions. We have lost a generation of scientific research. We have broken the federal government to the point where it can no longer do even its most basic jobs. Our people are hurting and angry and anxious. The administration’s response? Gerrymandering.
Republican words will destroy our country. Pete Hegseth told Congress the enemy in the Iran war is free speech in America. Todd Blanch told us that sea shells spelling out 86 47 on a South Carolina constituted a credible threat to kill Donald Trump. Trump himself wants to bring back firing squads.
And yet, what they do is even worse than what they say. Junior Trump is now big defense contractors. Trump’s DOJ is giving millions of taxpayer dollars to Trump cronies in bogus settlements of meritless cases filed for the purpose of creating a payoff mechanism. Trump’s FCC is going after the free press. His HHS is hiding documents on the efficacy of vaccines. Trump is spending hundreds of billions and endangering our young men and women to fight in meaningless wars because the mistake a target list for a strategy. As I write, states across the old Confederacy are rushing to get rid of legislative districts where Black candidates have been able to win elections.
Americans see all this know. They hate it. And they know the words. So let us say them every day to audiences across our great country: DOGE, Epstein, ICE, gas prices, inflation, censorship, Iran …
Yet the majority of Americans are still apathetic enough that they won't vote again this year. They'll shrug their shoulders and say 'our vote won't mean anything' or 'they've already stolen it', or worse 'the Republicans have done nothing wrong.'
'America First' became 'America Indifferent' and 'America Isolated'.
Trump talks of peace, yet spends hundreds of billions of dollars and existing assets to attack small weak countries who he just doesn't like (bigotry, not fear of nukes), let alone small boats. And what do the responsible parties in the House and Senate do? A fine imitation of the three monkeys, and then try to divert attention to meaningless drivel.
The state GOPs are pandering to the worst elements because that is who is the most active, and are backed by the worst President ever. My state has a person running for AG who talks defending the rule of law while he praises Trump. My God, the irony is strong in that one.
Words the GOP embrace include 'Christianity'; yet the items they embrace are all off the radar and Jesus would turn and say unto them 'WTF!" because it surely isn't his teachings.
