This article is so true and like the saying goes “if you can’t run with the big dogs stay on the porch”. Democrats fail when they fall into the culture war trap. When the republicans start with culture war comments about LGBTQ or trans or liberal universities, an appropriate response is LGBTQ folks aren’t defunding health care, trans folks represent 2% of the population and aren’t killing people at the border, universities aren’t trying to take away your right to vote, and Epstein survivors are just calling for justice in a country that once valued the rule of law. The time is NOW to get into action. We’ve witnessed the erosion of freedom of speech, the cruelty of ICE, the corruption of bogus lawsuits, the gerrymandering of free and fair elections, the racism, the child trafficking case now being thrown out, and finally the demolition of democracy currently underway. We the people - we must act now. Once freedoms are lost, it is harder to get them back. Remember those who came before and their sacrifices to enjoy the freedoms we have today, John Lewis, Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy. Those still with us Stacy Abrams, Jamie Raskin, Jasmine Crockett, Rick Wilson and the Lincoln Project need us all to March together for justice.
The Fight the Oligarchy tour that Bernie and AOC have done has been so successful because they ask people what their concerns are, and then they address them. And people love it!! The party at large needs to take note. They also NEED to talk to those of us in rural communities. We are consistently ignored, and then pretty much consistently end up voting red. It's awful being a blue dot in a sea of red.
This Daily Beast interview with Dr John Gartner is a great watch to discuss Cheeto’s advancing dementia(https://bit.ly/47TyuxN) which is more and more noticeable as the symptoms are clear As Gartner notes we have digital tracking over the years to compare where he was 20 years ago and now how his functioning has deteriorated that is not explained by advancement of age And the stress of the presidency is obviously accelerating his dementia and psychopathy
The interview exposes the reasons why we are making many of the observations of Cheeto who is clinically described as a malignant narcissistic who is a sadist, unable to love, and having no remorse of past criminal behavior Epstein shared the same psychopathy
Fantastic piece. I reference that LBJ quote all the time. And now I will be referencing your quote: “And until non-Trump voters internalize this, they’ll keep wringing their hands every time MAGA wins an election as though it was some unthinkable accident. It’s not. It’s coalition politics doing what coalition politics does: rewarding the group that shows up in force, unified by grievance if not by policy.” 🎯
This is an excellent piece, but for me personally, I think Democrats--and the country as a whole--have a much bigger problem that trying to earn voter support. We're past the point of finding a message that will convince voters, who aren't in the MAGA cult, to vote for Democrats. We're on the edge of autocracy. Forget about being the Democratic party; these people need to become the Democracy party, the party of opposition. All this talk about midterms, 2026, and then 2028, and then the worries about how Trump will try to intimidate voters at polling places, try to rig the election through redistricting. I'm of the view there won't even be elections going forward. As a country we keep thinking, "well that won't happen; Trump can't go that far." But he always does. Just look at the last three weeks and what's happened. Now just imagine the next 14 months. I know this post is a downer, but that's how I feel. Time for the Democrats to take a stand against authoritarianism.
While I at first found myself wearying a bit as I waded through what for me was more or less a tepid bath of stuff I'd read (and read and read) before, you built to a crescendo that kept my eyeballs glued right on the screen and my brain ticking away. Your suggestion, for example, to couch important ideas with language that causes people to reach for them and not tune out, was specific enough to be of real use. Many of us readers know perfectly well what ad men and other messaging specialists have long known: people are for the most part not entirely, or even mainly, rational actors. So you need to understand that factors such as self image and tribal loyalties, not to mention panic-inducing fears, must factor large in any political messaging. More like this, please.
Kristoffer another great piece, thank you . I have no idea what my party is going to do but I hope they read your piece. I miss Clinton and Obama. I have so much anger at Joe and the people around him for telling him he could win when he was not up to the job. My sister and I were talking about this long before he finally gave up. It was obvious that he was too old. I love the LBJ quote because it tells the truth about a big part of human nature. People are happy that masked thugs are taking people off the streets and putting them in hell holes .. That he can blow up small boats is despicable. Nothing happens to him. I don't know who is going to make a difference but I hope somebody does. Oh and one more thing ..I wish some of these old democrat leaders would retire. Please retire please. lost in america

BRAVO!
Thank you. No fumbling and bumbling. The stories of people’s struggles are out there in plain sight.
