A new Gallup survey and Harry Enten’s historical review show President Trump approaching 2026 in one of the weakest second-term polling positions of the modern era.
Cheeto Will Preside Over The Currency Failure Of The Dollar
Alasdair Macleod, a British banker, broker, and writer at GoldMoney, has been a proponent of the Austrian school of economics and writes on his Substack channel(https://bit.ly/4oLi5Ar) about the failure and end of fiat currency system In his interview with an Aussie counterpart (https://bit.ly/4rEI8vz) his soundly based predictions is a good listen to warn of the impending currency failure of the dollar
Current inflationary numbers reflect on the loss of the purchasing power of the dollar now given in the price of gold 6% of what it was in 1971 when a Republican took us off the gold standard Put another way, the dollar buys only 6 cents of what the dollar could buy 54y ago When the US was on a gold standard post WWII inflation held steady at 1% and economies flourished
Now central bank/Fed policy is controlled by macroeconomists/Keynesians who see a metallic standard backing a currency as no longer part of the currency system even though a metallic standard is written in the Constitution
What will it look like when there’s a currency collapse? Bond yields will start rising above 5%, banks will foreclose due to margin debt, equity markets will collapse due to margin calls(estimated to be $1T), living standards will suffer horribly…food costs spiral, home loss or mortgages become worthless
Cheeto will preside over this economic catastrophe and much like his response to the COVID crisis, he and his Nazi regime will not know what to do and will devastate not only the US but the Western global economy Cheeto’s anti science approach to dealing with the virus will prove to be as blundering and bungling when it comes to this next crisis
I truly hope his ratings continue to drop and then we will see how much he spins out. I hope it's on the LARGE size. And yes they will have reaped what they sowed. Hate, Anger, and Loyalists are NOT a good mix in our country today!
May trump and republicans reap what they sow. And the worst is yet to come once people see their health insurance policies reach unaffordable levels, Medicaid and SNAP cuts put the most vulnerable at greater risk, and Medicare is slashed so musk, bezos and the tech bros can spend their tax cuts on expanding their doomsday bunkers in Hawaii. Plenty of pain yet to come for the trump cultists, and for those who did not buy into the trump lies.
These polls seem to not mean a thing if we can’t get our government to function. So what if T scores a -24? He’s still being an ass and continues (or doubles down) to make the majority of us, miserable and disgusted, and utterly lacking anyway to take back our country.
Yes. I am tired of the hyperbole over the polls. His base has not changed at all and still approves of him in the same percentages. If we had the elections today, the electoral college and gerrymandering would fuck it up anyway,
Aside from all his policy disasters, we can't overlook the denigrating way Trump talks about and to women, whether it's female reporters asking him tough questions, or female electeds hitting him over bad policy, or women in his own party who've decided to retire, he treats them all with the same insulting, combative derision. Worse, members of his administration have been busy removing the accomplishments and histories of women [and people of color] from the military and from our national history museums.
And the people who make up more than half of the electorate, women, are sick of the misogyny and being treated as second-class citizens whose views and voices don't count. That's why republicans' standing with women is so disastrous. And what's their response? Co-signing or reposting comments about how women shouldn't be allowed to vote.
Let's face it, there's always been a certain, base level of this crap that women have routinely put up with, mostly without any support from men in the workplace, but since Trump 2.0, it's like all the stops have been pulled out.
Enough elected Republicans are staying with him to do a lot of damage. How do Louisiana Republicans think Mardi Gras will go with masked ICE in New Orleans?
NOLA? Please. I was at No Kings 2 here in Atlanta and came across my favorite costumes. Two very fashionable folks were dressed as 'ICE Agents'. One was pink, the other a tasteful sea-green. Pastel. Needless to say, they were fabulous.
Ol' Big Easy will deliver such. On flaming crack. Everywhere. The mockery will be galactic in scale. And it won't even need to be Mardi Gras.
It has become apparent to me, that t doesn't care about numbers anymore other than how much grafted money he and his family can rake in before he exits the stage. I've suspected this since he took office as he has rushed to ruin the country. No matter what he says he can't be that ignorant regarding his health. He knows his family history and the optics of his "naps: in the office and cabinet meetings would have been unthinkable in 1.0. (In fact the photographer would have been fired...and/or worse... on the spot.
Let us all remember, too, that Gallup has tended to be right leaning, so that should add to it.
Polls are becoming less and less an indicator as more people don't participate. I get any telephone call from an unidentified number and I ignore it. It's usually either a cold call "would you like to sell your home" or someone hawking something. I doubt I'm an exception to the rule. Then there is the obvious biasing in the questions, such as "Do you support our blessed leader, Donald Trump?" Or questions that can be interpreted in twenty different ways so your reply may not mean what you thought it did.
But Trump is way beyond RMN's level of paranoia. And the GOP no longer has leaders who would be willing to go to the WH and tell the President that he doesn't have support and needs to step down. You can rely on it that if so threatened, DJT would declare "Make the country look like the East Wing! That'll teach the rebellious!"
I'm becoming a broken record to family members and friends, and probably, now, to readers of these posts, but what good are low poll numbers in terms of real-world results? Something like 80% of Americans support Ukraine in its war with Russia, but Trump wants to cut a deal with Putin. A majority of Americans recognize that tariffs are costing them money, and we still have Trump's tariffs for God knows what reason. These among other insane or corrupt policies. And I still see the greatest danger that Trump at some point in 2026 will declare a national emergency--citing immigrants and the radical left, and maybe trans-athletes for good measure--invoke the Insurrection Act, and "postpone" elections. Am I being too pessimistic? No matter how low we think Trump can go, he always goes lower. And who has stopped him so far?
No, you are absolutely not too pessimistic. What you're *not* saying, though, is what's implied. What he really, really wants is to strike a 'once and for all' blow. Something that is Game Over and cements his status as our God Emperor. But that never comes. What he, and we, finds is that every completely new thing he does moves things to a new level. Jump ahead to the 'kill Americans' plan. He finds a deranged Army field commander who agrees to "teach the rebels a lesson" by mowing 200 people down on the Kent State green. One of his 5th-level schmucks shows 'initiative' and begins seizing civilian weapons. Will that be Game Over, as in we just lay down and take it? How will those actions actually unfold? Will they be smooth and machine-like or will the stupidity of his minions and the basic humanity and common sense of individual soldiers gum it up somehow?
What they will actually do is start a 'new conversation', as they say. I'm guessing, without inside knowledge, that his cunning lizard brain knows this. Something stays his hand. He continues to 'experiment' to see what will stick and hasn't taken summary action against citizens. Yet he could have at any time. He has committed crimes against immigrants, which he mistakenly thought we would just shrug off. We continue to surprise him at every turn.
Fewer of us are waiting with baited breath to see what new, exciting, atrocity will spring forth from that demented mind. Each one is having less of the desired effect than the one before. It's time to take the fight to him and hard-test the supposed iron grip he has on all those craven GOP politicians.
To counter my pessimism, while I do think Trump will continue to do damage, and that everything he does will end badly for the country, I do think it will end. And despite many dire predictions about how it will take a generation or more to recover from the damage, I think the recovery will be much quicker than that. Because at some point, there will be enough people beyond his MAGA cult of true believers, who will finally have had it with this creep. At least that's my hope. Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts.
So, you see? You're actually more optimistic than I am.
I don't think the 'recovery' will be faster than a generation. That's because it won't be a 'recovery', exactly. The old republic is gone. It was shown to be weak and hollow. It was brought down by an insane carney barker from the outer boroughs, not exactly a match for the Founding Fathers.
What I think, if we're lucky, there will be something new. We learned a lot of things about our country and ourselves through the last decade, I hope to God we have the wherewithal to take and apply those as we build a new republic. If we can.
Signs of hope for us...Signs that Trump is falling in the polls. Let's hope the decent downward for Trump and Crime Circle holds true. True to the hope that the elections in 2026 give the Dems a good result by winning the House and Senate (?--always a question there). Of course we all need to stay focus and help get out the word and the vote. Thanks, Brian. Always a interesting read. Take care.
It would really piss him off to compare his polls to Carter's. Comparing him to Nixon would make him feel proud.

These views toward women in the workplace has certainly increased. Disturbing that many men disagree, but say nothing.
Let's face it, there's always been a certain, base level of this crap that women have routinely put up with, mostly without any support from men in the workplace, but since Trump 2.0, it's like all the stops have been pulled out.

Trump will be in the 20s by spring.
I'm thinking by Valentines....sooner of Christmas is a true economic disaster... 12th Night would be good to show a massive fail
A pedo, moron, grifter doesn’t belong in the White House.
As we have seen, it is all “about me”, it is a fantasy to believe he will change course; for he has no reason to do so.
With any luck, he will be about 40% under water by next fall, which should translate into a sweep of the political field as never before.
Now it is up to the Dems to keep the “pedal to the metal” on affordability, and let the Republicans harp ALONE about LBTGQ.
We need to focus on the youngest of the electorate, they are the most affected by the affordability issue.
