Liked the video presentation. Interesting. My generation learned all about the constitution. etc. And it wasn't about the lost cause. And it wasn't exactly a northern state either. However, the required content of a public school's curriculum depends on that state's education department. I do wonder what states are teaching. I do remember when integration became the law, I know some communities in the south set up schools in their churches. But this isn't about education right now. It is about how do encourage and speak /listen to people. Good questions, Joe and Alex, just no new answers or strategies for us. Trying hard to get more friends to come to the Oct. 18 rally. Thanks for all you do.

What Happens After Cheeto??

Over at Democracy Docket the resistance movement is necessary and important The protests play a huge roll in the resistance movement But some of us become desensitized and don’t say anything They came for people in LA but I don’t live in LA They came for people in Portland but I don’t live in Portland Then they came for people in Chicago but I don’t live in Chicago Then they came for me and I was in the only city left Outrage is necessary and there is NO GOOD REPUBLICAN at this point in time They are traitors to the country like Cheeto

But building a new opposition(https://bit.ly/3IrVBFy) in parallel is essential as we evolve the resistance movement An opposition movement is based on morality and truth and needs to be seen as being in for the long run, measured in terms of years not months And we should be resilient in our approach to this long term project, the opposition movement

So who are our heroes in this movement?

I'm so tired of people telling Schumer or others to do something. If you don't know what "something" is, what makes you think he does? Spell out a plan stop wasting our time repeating what we already know. And for those who do understand how this system of government works, the only way out of this coup is with a landslide election in 26.

But they pulled all the funding for police departments in order to put military on the streets. I know I don't want troops on the street I think police with funding would do just a good a job. I agree I'm totally tired of government governing, because we put those people in office to work for us and NOT to help the leader in his revenge tour of 4 years. And finally the "whitewash" of History I believe is so wrong on so many levels. I feel that I got a sanitized version of history growing up and finally in my 40's I read Howard Zinn's book "A Peoples History of the United States." It was fascinating book and told all the factual bad things that did happen which opened my eyes! NO KINGS Rally on October 18th in a city near you!

Agree with you about the Democrats. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE!!!! Our leaders should be shouting from the rooftops at the fascist actions of this regime. Call it out! For the love of God, tell it like it is!

Speaking of "red meat" (there isn't any), I have to share a portion of this Pro Publica piece on El Presidente's tragic decisions to cut food supplements: (from lincolnsquare.media/p/trump-and-the-night-of-the-long-knives/comments?utm_source=substack&publication_id=3561893&post_id=175210282...)

"At the same time, the Trump administration has made additional cuts to the social safety net; this summer, Trump signed into law the largest cut to food stamps in the program’s history.

(The graphics should be available below under the propublica sign-on)

"We reached out to the USDA for comment about this story. No one responded to our questions. In May, though, the USDA responded to concerns raised by senators about the funding cut, saying that the emergency food program continues to operate “as originally intended by Congress.”

"I urge you to head over to the story and give it a read yourself. It goes into more detail about the food that never arrived, shown by animations that convey the scale of missed deliveries in a way that this newsletter can’t quite depict."

Democrat politicians are VERY susceptible to the concept of normalization of atrocities. They seem to shrug their shoulders at bad things that happen....there's no opposition and fight. Does their own freedom have to be in jeopardy to fight???
