Trump declaring war on his fellow Americans. ICE’s violent arrests. DOGE destroying the federal government. The specter of war in Venezuela. And the DOJ’s clumsy Epstein files coverup.
What a year it was. And we chronicled it all on Lincoln Square. Here are our staff’s five favorite columns of 2025.
Impeach Donald Trump before He Destroys Everything
·Even during the holiday week, there came yet more evidence — as if we need it — that Donald Trump is a clear and present danger to America and all that we value. He must be impeached and forever removed from office.
DOGE's Willing Executioners
·We know little about the motivations of the young DOGE soldiers. We know so much — maybe too much — about Elon Musk, but not those who obeyed his call. It is perhaps too easy to dismiss them as reactionaries or self-interested. There is value in understanding their motivations and worldview since they are, for better or worse (and so far, for worse) in …
Robert McNamara and the New American Gestapo
·In 1965, after nearly a decade of increasing U.S. involvement in Vietnam, Robert McNamara launched Operation Rolling Thunder, a years-long massive escalation of American military force intended to boost morale in South Vietnam, disrupt supply lines, signal American resolve, and, ultimately, force the North to give up support for the communist insurgency…
The Party that Forgot How to Blink
·Republicans are exhausted — not from governing, but from pretending to.
Made-for-TV Authoritarianism
·Donald Trump’s show of force in the nation’s capital has nothing to do with law enforcement and everything to do with militarized politics. His concern about public safety is a ruse to create conflict and grab more power. Trump does not give a damn about Washington, D.C. and the people who call it home.

Really good picks. I actually re-read them. As I re-read, I remembered how each affected me at the time. Still hit hard on the heart and soul. The writers pointed out in picks of the year are all very good--Kristoffer Early in particular. His most recent article on Bennie Thompson reflected how asking the right questions have more impact than the non-answer that he received. What a year. Keep up the good work Lincoln Square Media. Thanks for all you do. Take care all.
PS. Just remembered two articles that stuck with me: Evan Fields, "The Capital Caller", Sept. 6; and CJ Penneys, "Not In My Name", Sept. 25.
