As a previous Republican, I no longer believe the GOP exists. it is completely MAGA. They have demonstrated that again and again. So while I agree the fight is for democracy and the rule of law, Republicans = MAGA and they stand for authoritarianism.

I'm fed up with most of the Democratic party. The responses I get from my reps in Congress, Seanator Tammy Baldwin and Congressman Mark Pocan, when I contact them, is pure boilerplate. Look at what average Americans in Minneapolis are doing. It doesn't stop Trump. I protest with around 40 people in my Wisconsin town every Saturday afternoon, contact my reps regularly, attend meetings of a pro-democracy grassroots group, and am a volunteer poll worker--and guess what, that doesn't stop Trump either. So yes, as Edwin writes, we can't rely on a political party to save American democracy. But he stops short of stating what average Americans, without strong leadership and a focused plan, are supposed to do exactly. I'm open to suggestions.
