Thank you from a Gold Star niece. We need to get more young people involved in a range of service programs, both military and civilian. Our country is not a YouTube channel. It’s the hopes and dreams of our people, and we need future generations who get out and meet them.
Thank you for that powerful reminder about the ultimate sacrifice of so many who fought to save democracy. It's quite disturbing to think that those who have so much, such as musk and the tech bros, sacrificed so little and take so much as they go about their efforts to destroy democracy. But those with so much less sacrificed it all for the benefit of the many. I honor all those who have served to protect an ideal and us all.
Beautifully and passionately written. I remember all. Thank you Velda and LSq.Media. 😔🙏🕊️
P.S. Been thinking about Memorial Day. Just had to say more. When I was a kid, Memorial Day was May 30th. It was often referred to as Decoration Day. Actually, it was Decoration Day until 1868. That named lived on in my family and probably in lots of families. It was exciting because we would gather baskets or buckets of flowers to place on the graves of family members who had passed. Being so late in May the only flowers available were mostly roses---the rambling kind with lots of stickers. My sister, brothers and I would be sent through the deep wet weeds beyond the garden where the rose bushes flourished to pick those prickly roses. Then the family would go to the cemetery to place the flowers around the gravestones of family members who had pass. The Great Aunts and Grandma always made sure there was a small American Flag on their father's (my great grandfather) grave. Great Grandpa fought with the Grand Army of the Republic. I must admit the air was filled with celebration. But there was always a ceremony for a service member who had more recently pass. At the end of that ceremony taps was played--and then taps was played further away sounding like an echo. Silence, except for taps, filled the air. We knew. This celebration was a time of reflection and honor, saying both good-bye to those loved, as well as loving memory of who they were. They were not forgotten. A time when we prayed for peace. For me it was a day of flowers and memories. A day of peace and a prayer for peace. It is a lovely memory. Sorry if I am too sentimental. Age has its benefits. 🙏🕊️
My dad fought at the Chosin Reservoir in Korea. He didn’t talk about it much at all but he did say that it was unbelievably cold, sleeping on the ground. He lost a small part of one finger to frostbite he said, but in his last days he slipped and said it was from a bullet. So we don’t know which it was. We are proud of his service and sacrifice.
My wife was born in early August, 1944. Her biological father was 2d. Lt. Aldo Allegretti, Jr. Aldo never met her because he died in WW II, after surviving D-day, as the lead officer in Landing Craft No 312, on June 6, 1944.Sadly,he died about 30 days later near St. Lo, France, in the Allied push to liberate Paris. That loss plagued her when she learned that Aldo existed and was her biological father, when she was in her 20's, and that her adoptive father was just that. Her mother who was such a sociopath (just like our current President). Aldo was a war hero who gave his life to secure our democracy, as your excellent piece eloquently states.
Due to political pressure Ken Martin recently elected chair of the DNC put out the hidden but publicly sought autopsy report of the 2024 election, compiled by a Martin confidant
What one can surmise from the report goes to the heart of the organization: incompetence and a sure sign that Martin and his DNC buddies are a lost group of political operatives who couldn’t manage their way out of a wet paper bag, let alone be a guiding light against a fascist takeover of the federal government
Intelligent people like Jamie Raskin are trying to help in the fight but the DNC, no where to be found No leadership means losing to the fascist Nazi Republicans Short term wins like Biden in 2020 is not enough to stem the tide against the CNPP(Christian Nationalist Pedo Party) There needs to be a dedicated long term plan to right the ship of the American democracy At this point the DNC is not up to the task Martin is scared of losing donor $$$ so he's kissing up to special interest groups like AIPAC and cryptocurrency people Who cares about Palestinian genocide, funding the Israeli war machine or bankrupting the country, as long as one can keep the $$$ flowing
The fascist Nazi Republicans have had a decade long strategy called Project 2025 to create an immoral nonrepresentative government This is why WE the People have to take over by organizing a French Revolution 2.0 21st century style is so important Join the growing Indivisible movement to support candidates who are for the WE the People movement and get big money eg AIPAC etc out of politics
I’ve shared with a Trump voter.

There is a horrific rot in the DNC. Both of my dad’s fought in WW2. Along with the two heroes I honor them also.

Maybe DJT should receive an honorable mention in the heroes lost as well.
We all sadly overlook his own personal Vietnam war during the sexual revolution. Maybe this needs a DC monument to help us all commemorate it?
Excellent! And, thank you.

50 year long strategy, but yes. And the entire dnc should be sidelined before they do more harm. We are behind the clock by a longshot.
Join Indivisible and support their candidates who are not funded by big $$$
Indivisible is not my speed, but this is all hands on deck, so I am very glad others are joining them.
Yes all hands on deck Everyone has a role to play
