Uh, no. This zero-sum formulation fails when it stops at 'people abandoned the GOP to side with the DNC'. That dualistic bullshit is gone. What this really does is put tremendous pressure on all of the non- and anti-trump forces (Dems, opposition, resistance) to pull together the fight that people want to defeat Trumpism (not just trump). That pressure just manifested itself in the Dem capitulation in the Senate and the immediate backlash. Justice Jackson just preformed a strategic procedural maneuver to try to allow a lower court to force reinstatement of SNAP, and the immediate response by the opposition was to howl in outrage and assume that she had 'betrayed' us.
This thing is rapidly unravelling. What comes out the other end will not be anything like what came before.
