Nazi Republican Party Not So Quietly Destroying The Country
Anger is a double edged sword. It can be destructive and damaging to relationships but when channeled appropriately it can motivate WE the People to mobilize and move to action. The 18 months of peaceful protests are such an example.
There is nothing a monarch/politician fears more than an angry electorate. Just ask Louis XVI who went to the guillotine during the French Revolution in 1793. King Cheeto fears a political beheading and is why he’s pulling out all stops to subvert and interfere with the upcomimg midterms.
All Cheeto’s regime loyalists from Vought to Miller to Just Dance to Homan have sealed their fates. They will escape with pardons but not from the wrath of the state judicial. They will all be going down and rightfully so.
The complicit Congressional Nazi Republicans are into the game of destroying the country with this attempted fascist takeover. Like Cheeto they send mixed messages but make no mistake, the RNC and elected Nazis know what their job is. They are not to be trusted at any level of government.
If the Democrats want to pass any meaningful legislation re voting and SCOTUS reform to counter the Nazi Republicans, it may take removal of the filibuster. This moment demands courage to upend the Democratic party status quo attitude. Their fear will prevent them from doing what needs to be done which will take courage.
What is it with professors who seem to feel they need to write a thesis instead of a concise message? I'll bet the average Lincoln Square supporter has neither the time nor the patience to read such lengthy diatribes. I totall agree with Moynihan's assessment of Blanche, but couldn't it be said more concisely?
Well this sure opened up some cans. I agree with much of it, and I would like to see more inquiry in this direction, I think it has potential for our learning more about our enemy. Because they *are* our enemy, they said so themselves.

I know all about the crazed commie-haters of the 50's, but the modern era of the GOP was set in motion by Newt Gingrich. He saw (sees, but he's now in much less circulation) everything as strictly zero-sum. He saw no cycles in politics and civic life, there was only crush or be crushed. He imparted this ethic to all who listened in the GOP, and ran 'academies' to train Republican politicians in the art of kamikaze politics. Cooperation became betrayal because the other side were so thoroughly evil they needed to be exorcized entirely from public life. Fast forward to today.
Gingrich's 'success' was based on burning all his fuel at once. If you do that, there's no return trip necessary. The GOP does that today, it's all or nothing. So I want to see a cogent and plausible explanation for how this will 'backfire' on them. It may or may not. Their impulses are driven by amygdala-fueled hatred. They might no say so out loud, but their 'end game' is the obliteration of the Left in America, to then leave it pristine, white, and eminently successful. Unencumbered by all those Brown/gay/trans/lib/Deep State weaklings who have dragged it down so thoroughly. Actually, some among their number who are less intelligent *have* said this out loud, complete with prison camps and mass executions. The belief in this zero-sum, triumphalist universe is that there can never be any backlash or consequences because the enemy will be totally and completely annihilated. And when have we heard that before?

What would you have done that the Merrick Garland would not have done? Have you read Sedition Hunters: How January 6th Broke the Justice Department by Ryan J Reilly? If not, you should. I have researched January 6th ever since I watched the break in to the Capitol on PBS and I strongly dispute this statement you and a number of other substackers have made. I don't see how not being able to overcome relentless legal hurdles such as the Supreme Court Immunity Decision on 1 July 2024 before the 2024 election really was some fault of the Attorney General. The Nation did not pay much attention to the 165 page Government's Motion for Immunity Determinations https://bit.ly/4lEgn21 released on 2 October 2024 over a month before the election. This plus the massive 4 volume Appendix pretty much showed that the Special Counsel could have proven Trump to be guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt in court had this case gone to court. The American people should have paid attention but even I had not read this before the election because it was hard to read and I did not begin digging into it until after the disastrous election outcome and I did so to get the American people to discourage Trump from pardoning his mob.
My problem with that assumption -- "that Democrats will always choose a Merrick Garland" -- is the "always." Democrats, which is to say the Biden administration, chose Merrick Garland *once*. Was it a consolation prize for Mitch McConnell's blocking Garland's nomination to SCOTUS? Maybe.
That is possible. My question is why do these people attack Merrick Garland without full knowledge of what was going on and what Merrick Garland also did in addition to the mass of legal obstacles that Trump used campaign monies to put in the cases. The one case that was open/shut was shut down by Federal judge in Trump's pocket who he may even appoint to Supreme Court in gratitude.

I keep asking, have these people ever read a history book? Do they understand the meaning of authoritarianism? And can any of them finally stand up to a former TV game show host? I guess the answer is no, and it's the thing I will never understand about this group of truly spineless men.

Thank you for your insights on the meaning of Blanche being made AG. I fear he will do great harm ordering very illegal things such as he has already done but worse. It is amazing to me the depths the republicans will go to show intolerance to the rest of us. I’m heartily sick of them. When, not if we take control, a dem appointed AG full of fiery resolve to correct the horrors we are living through, is a must. NO MORE MERRICK GARLANDS. Those days are over. We need to draw on the idea that we need substantial change and not sink back towards “normalcy”. Dems ready to fight. I’ll support that.

Thank you for this excellent post. Senate Trumplicans seem poised to approve Todd Blanche. They are an ugly brew of ambition, ignorance and fear.
