And the swaggering and bragging of our Incompetent in Chief will not mollify Iran. Just the opposite. Maybe we should send some mental health professionals to Washington. For more than this reason.
"The worst war in decades", eh? I'm afraid that you guys really still just don't get it. If we do slip into the war that we now seem to be blundering towards in the middle east then - given that part of the world's emotional commitment to logically exclusive systems of institutionalized superstition - the war will not stop short of nukes. And, just as in our two previous world wars, your series of cascading events will pretty quickly suck in every disgruntled and opportunistic ethnic group and nation-state that can see a chance for advancing its desired agenda. All this against our present backdrop of accelerating and metastasizing climate disruption. If we do blunder into this sh*t then it will be by about a order of magnitude the worst war in our species history.
This is why you don't put a hotheaded egotistical madman/moron(?) in the position of Commander in Chief. Hitler certainly made good choices and managed his forces well. The ones who were left nearly all wanted to kill him by the end.
"oil flowing from the Middle East to the rest of the world must pass along Iran’s southern shore and through the Strait of Hormuz."
Yes, and no.
Oil coming from the Persian Gulf side of Saudi Arabia, yes, but that's a matter of where you choose to ship from. The Saudis can also choose to ship from their west coast on the Red Sea. Iran, Kuwait, UAE, and several other countries sit only on the Persian Gulf and so must ship via the Strait of Hormuz.
"Now ineffectual Marco Rubio has to beg China to intervene."
'Little Marco'?? Sure. He will only do his master's bidding, no matter how illogical or dangerous it is. His entire purpose in this administration was to have a 'traditionalist' there to lend credence to the idea that there were adults in the room with Trump.
I fully agree with Mario Nicolais. Trump has tossed a match into a tinderbox yet thinks nothing will happen; while the reality is that it may burn the wood shed and surrounding structures to the ground. Trump has an over abiding fascination with destroying things he is incapable of understanding.
It appears that neither Israel nor Iran are paying much attention to TACO's bombast as they continue shooting at each other despite Donnie W Bush's 'ceasefire'.
As we recall the Orange Cheeto’s rise in politics revolved around his “tough guy” persona displayed in the reality TV show the Apprentice He got so much press about the gig that it welded him to part of the American electorate once he decided to take his strongman show to the WH
It so has so influenced the “businessman” success story that the electorate bought into this image displayed on TV This explains his penchant for getting up to date by tuning into Fox rather than the WH intelligence briefings and for getting the Fox cable hosts to fill cabinet positions Cheeto mused that if I can win the presidency without any bureaucratic governmental experience why should my cabinet being any different
So the Orange One has taken his TV show to the executive branch and with the help of the Nazi party which crafted the Project 2025 blueprint for him to follow Der Fuhrer has found that even the law cannot constrain and so “peddle to the metal” Now the alternate MSM has had enough of this “tough guy” front and it’s even wearing thin with the electorate protesting in record numbers Cheeto cheated his way into the WH and time’s running out
I watched the Apprentice and was never impressed by his leadership or business acumen. He always asked someone else to make the decisions. The only thing he knew how to do and enjoyed doing was saying "you're fired!" Time to say that to him.
Thank you, Mario. Seems everyone has forgotten or didn't learn it in the first place the "pre-conditions" that led to World War I. What a web of chaos it was. Also, I take exception to one thing you wrote: lots of us hillbillies have a very good sense of history. Vance just has no sense. From the time he wrote that book I thought: He is no Hillbilly. I can't explain it. He just never rang true.
I felt the same when I read that book. I have family from Louisville and we used to go into the eastern hills in the summer. Plenty of hillbillies there, and much common sense.
The US enabled a more powerful Iran by taking out Saddam Hussein. Iraq was balancing Iran's power in the region, so it was the Iraq war that allowed Iran to become so powerful. It wasn't an unknown consequence of the invasion of Iraq. At the time, there was discussion about empowering Iran, and how bad for the world that would be.
Thank you for this clear-eyed historical context for the current volatile situation. Even as I want to weep in fear and frustration I appreciate the analysis you have provided. It’s imperative that we as citizens of this country and the world know and understand history. We are so poorly served by an administration uninformed, intellectually lazy ( to quote Bobby Jones) and hubristic.
And the swaggering and bragging of our Incompetent in Chief will not mollify Iran. Just the opposite. Maybe we should send some mental health professionals to Washington. For more than this reason.
I wonder if cutting off oil through the straits of Hormuz might accelerate the end of using polluting and expensive fossil fuels

And the Sh*t show continues. Brought to you by the Twisted Twinkie.
