our neighborhood board meetings are extremely tedious and nobody cares what the people in the neighborhood really think. Our City and County (Honolulu) has been corrupt since the 1950’s and is just as corrupt today. My mother told me about the guys literally climbing out the windows with typewriters, so that tells you how long ago that was. IT IS ALL ABOUT PAYOFFS HERE!! Buying tickets for the Mayor’s Fundraiser or a case of scotch for the guy at the building department. And these are DEMOCRATS. We have a corrupt one party system here in Hawaii run by DEMOCRATS. So please don’t tell me we can make a difference because it is like pulling teeth. We have done everything we can and they are still over developing our island. Money talks. That is it.
I had tried to offer my help to the Democrats a decade ago and was met with total indifference, at best. Ultimately the indifference was so stark I gave up even trying. So now I just do this. Protecting democracy is important even to regular people. It is mistake to run away from that issue.
