Thank you for having this conversation, Sam and Skye.
I am heartened to learn more about Democracy Forward, as I seem to spend a fair amount of my time en-couraging people.
We do not have "a leader" in this dark time, but what's becoming apparent is we have lots and lots and lots of leaders. No Kings Day. Democracy Forward and other legal fighters.
This is war, akin in my mind to Europe in the 1930s with the aggrieved German faction preparing darkly and the comfortable English pretending otherwise. The antidemocratic forces in the US have been preparing for decades, while Democrats have dithered and gave ground. It's a clash of irreconcilable differences. Of course horrible things are going to happen. No one knows what will be left standing by the time we vanquish Trumpism (or, dissolve the Union). We will have to rebuild from the ashes and rubble, and we will have to build back better. This is not the way I would have liked to spend my last years, I would have wished we all could have avoided this stupid destruction, but here we are. The future is unknowable, and I'll fight the best I can. And I know I'll have lots of good company!
Extremely helpful. Thank you. We need more of this. We need to build bridges across our country and find that we have more in common, starting with love of country and one another.
Cheeto Wants American Taxpayer To Pay His Legal Expenses
Not surprisingly Cheeto is asking his subservient DOJ to pay him $230M for his legal expenses in defense of his illegal operations which include the Mar A Lago confiscated government documents case, the Georgia racketeering case in which he asked the Secty of State to find him 11,780 votes, convicted of falsifying business records, and attempting to overturn the 2020 election(https://bit.ly/4o387uF)
In essence these were all crimes against the American people perpetrated by a now fascist dictator seizing power over the government and making the government of the people pay for his criminal behavior Talk about a brazen shameless arrogant and openly illegal request!!! Bad optics eh? Meanwhile the cost of living is going up for average Americans and the Nazis give a tax break for billionaires and Cheeto putting up a $200M ballroom destroying part of the now Black House
Indivisible has now enough people to create a problematic boycott for American companies and WE the People will begin make American companies culpable for their support of this Nazi regime
Even though I participated in and enjoyed the communality present at our local No Kings rally I found myself here at midweek feeling a bit of a letdown, which I am countering by meeting tomorrow with a woman who's active and knowledgeable on the local social justice front. I am also planning to cancel my longstanding Amazon Prime account, as I can no longer rationalize my personal shopping convenience with the damage being done to our country by wealthy enablers of that old, sick, disgusting and manifestly destructive person who somehow became POTUS. Thanks to you both for 'being there' to help us get rid of him, and them.
I'm so happy I came across both of you. I learn so much and I appreciate the fact that you help us, we the people. Keep up the good work. We need you more than ever right now.
Is anyone else suspicious of the “settled lawsuits”, which lined Rump’s pocket with more than 5
$50 million? Could they just be bribes disguised as lawsuits? Or simply the mob tactic of “protection”?
Let’s not count on the courts for as we see almost daily the Supreme Court rules in Rump’s favor more than 90% of the time.
We need legislation, which would prohibit public officials from receiving any monetary compensation short of a jury award. Granted with His henchmen and sycophants controlling congress it will never pass, but that shouldn’t stop Democrats from going in front of the microphone and explaining the proposal and asking the WHY NOT.
Then we have this latest, $230 million from our treasury because he got served a search warrant? We need to sever DOJ for the executive branch with absolutely no political appointees. The AG and all current appointees should be career professionals promoted from and by within.
Has anyone noticed how he describes this as “suing myself” no Rump, you are not the State.
The number of legal challenges is uplifting. I think the average person is looking at a general strike because the legal system can be so convoluted. This is very good to know about and needs to be shared broadly. Like the other commenter here, I am disgusted that the military will not do their job to remove a SEDITIONIST who continues to break law after law. He violates the Constitution regularly. Their oath appears utterly empty to those of us under this Fascist regime. The trust will never be regained.
Whoa! It is NOT the job of the military to remove this seditious man. If you read even a little bit about military coups, you will know you absolutely do not want one! That is so totally not their job. It is the job of our elected representatives, and they are supposed to serve us.
Do not blame the military for what we the people have failed to do. They are not our daddies, and we are not children. American fascists have been organizing on this since 1947, and began to gain ground in the 1970s. Yes, before Reagan decided that American workers did not deserve a middle class lifestyle. There have been numerous efforts by various groups to call attention to the harsh inequalities of our social norms. Black Lives Matter being one of them. Most of us were concerned with our own situation. If it was good, that's as far as we went. If it was bad, we worried. Elected Democrats and Republicans represent the top 10% with policy and legislation. Others of us are "represented" only when our interests coincide with those of the top 10%. Poor people get nothing. 90 million Americans who are eligible to vote didn't even get registered. The highest vote levels are in a presidential year. Where I live there are elections every year, and they are all consequential. The fascists have been paying attention, and winning statehouse after statehouse. We the People have gotten a rude awakening. And only We the People can save this democracy.
The orange felon is a SEDITIONIST making him technically illegitimate for the office. He IS an enemy of the state. It’s not a coup to remove a person who violates the rights of citizens and that is an understatement here. I think we are moving closer to the 25th Amendment because a large number of Republicans ARE talking to Democrats about wanting to get away from the Seditionist/felon/rapist. (Source: Eric Swalwell)
I definitely agree, he should be removed from office. He should not have been allowed to take Office the second time. The appropriate mechanism is the 25th amendment, but that relies on his cabinet. We'll see what happens.
"unlawful precisely because they trample on the constitutional prerogatives of the legislative branch; yet Congress has taken no conspicuous action to stand up for itself."
Really - when will you and other writers stop using the term "Congress" and start using the term "Republican congress." This implies that there is general consent for the members to Trump's lawlessness and taking over of legislative prerogatives from the congress. It is the Republicans. Say it!
Why don’t all the podcast and all the people post everyday with speaking to the MILITARY? They get paid by We the People. They need all of the people communicating to the Military.

Great interview. So good to hear Skye talk about the fight for justice! Thx.

This was a good chat. Learned a lot. Skye Perryman's work gives me hope. Thanks, Skye. Good interview and chat, Sam.

🇨🇦 here. I don’t disagree but why?
