Thank you Ryan for being alert enough to realize what is going on. You aren't alone with respect to people who just like you do in different situations. Many don't want to speak up for fear of retaliation! You should NOT have been fired for trying to educate people about the laws of this country. Because it's no different than what you learned in school!
Are there unions to represent lawyers? I hadn't thought about this before. I found IFPTE on a google search, but I'm not sure that lawyers are represented broadly there.
Maybe lawyers at big firms need to unionize and have some representation and protection via a union.
First the coverup, then distractions(Russian election 2016 intervention, release of MLK files against family wishes, treasonous Obama) with Todd Blanche interviewing Maxwell in a courthouse The theatrics of this scandal cannot be more apparent, raises many questions as this scorcher continues in a downward spiral, and will produce more damaging evidence of this suppressed information over almost 30y
With further leaked revelations about the birthday book and that many copies exist, the visit with Maxwell is not only legally extraordinary, it looks like two defense attorneys getting together to discuss some form of plea bargain It is obvious that Blanche has no historical memory of past events and so his only theatrical position is to try to set up some form agreement so that Maxwell can lie for Cheeto Maxwell is a viscious predator, has already been convicted on 2 counts of plagiary, and through her past interactions with prosecutors it’s clear Maxwell will try to confuse, deceive, and obfuscate in order to get leniency or a pardon
The Epstein estate may very well become the card that Congress can play and not rely on a deceitful Cheeto regime
But the MAGA universe has drawn the redline on pedophilia and protecting the country’s wealthy elite(Dershowitz, Clinton, Leon Black, etc) And even though Blanche has told Maxwell what kind of story to put out, the story will be a hard sell
Nice to meet you Ryan Will Powers. As one of my favorite history professors said, "The questions we ask are often more important than the answer." I have learned that a question can make a lot of difference. Thanks, Jeff and Ryan. Keep up the good work. Keep asking questions.
The 'institutionalist' laments have been legion for months. I get it, it's all scary because big, strong edifices like huge law firms and universities roll over for a chickenshit dictator. Here's the thing, though: they were never that strong to begin with. They've always been big, conflicted balls of self-interest. Any sense of 'honor' or 'courage' they may have had was only because WE were watching, and they cared about their 'reputation'. They're doing a cost-benefit analysis and concluding that Trump can do financial damage to them, and that exceeds any 'reputational' damage.
It always begins and ends with us. All those institutions are merely manifestations of all of us messy, fractious individuals. They do not exist as separate entities, regardless of the legal fictions that have grown up around them. We, ultimately, lead them. That includes the institutions of our government.
The TLDR on this is: Trump can jail or kill any of us individually, but he will find it increasingly difficult to do that by playing Whack-A-Mole, which is what he's dealing with daily. Especially now, in his weakened and distracted state. The weakness of institutions is yesterday's news, the effect and not the cause. They will reassert themselves when we do. They will gallop to the head of the parade to reclaim their 'rightful' places as our 'leaders'.
Good luck. I’ve quit jobs based on ethics and principles. Scary times but it led to even better opportunities.
