More from the blue wave. Monroe County, MY, which includes Rochester, and one of the most populous towns in America, Greece, flopped to blue. To the point where: Greece, NY, elected a Democrat, Jeff McCann, as town supervisor for the first time in over a century, marking a significant political shift in the area. This change reflects a broader trend of Democratic victories in Monroe County during the recent elections.

"...even among Black women, 94% of whom voted for Abigail Spanberger..."

In my old statistics class, we would have labeled that result Ho-Lee-FUCK! Are you *sure* about that number, Andrew? I've never seen 94% of any Americans ever do anything.

Your take-home on Mamdani is right square on the nose. He's not at all about a 'model' for any politics outside of NYC, so help us god. Aside from the New Yorkers themselves, who will have a very interesting time coming up, 100% of his utility is to fuck up the ossified corpses running the DNC. We need them cleared out. Right the hell now. Fuck you, Chuck.

Will Dems ever stop taking the “bait” on every cultural issue?

Mamdani is not a socialist. He is a democratic socialist. Huge difference. Think the governments of most of Europe with universal healthcare, free college, longer paid vacations, and months of time off for birth. I now consider myself a democratic socialist. I have had it with unchecked capitalism, and our oligarchy.

MAGA still believes they have the 7 mountains mandate ... they have been working toward it since the 70s... this is just another pull back and regroup moment for them.... we must have a plan to address this or we will swing back again. We can not repeat post civil was FAUX reformation and feed the new Jim Crow. Do not dismiss the mandate that is very real to a large population seeded into our government.

Precisely why Bannon, Trump, Vought, Miller etc pushed “flood the zone” to implement P2025 ASAP!

Nobody grabs a handrail that hard unless they are failing. Look at his facial tone, a failing human. Get out the head of lettuce. I’m betting on the lettuce. The only way he can win is to be totally erased. God WILL get you for that.

Please remember that Jay Jones is toxic and needs to be forgotten in future Democratic forums. As “bad” as Myoris (sp?) was, Jones should have lost. (Virginia rules that each candidate is voted for individually, not as a group, so a NO vote is as good as NOT casting a vote for a candidate.)

Love your take on this and your opinion on why the polls got it so very wrong? Also, it's not just you , it's many pundits keep referring to Mamdani as a "Socialist Democrat" is he more Socialist than Democrat? .. quite confusing .... our "capitalist"country has "socialist" underpinnings ... medicaid SNAP welfare...etc.... the republicans use the word as the most demeaning, worst of the worst , except of course, when there is a need for "Corporate Welfare" then they turn a blind eye and open our coffers to them

Trump and the GOP is getting what they deserve as they have served America with everything BUT what she deserved.

Let's be clear. It was the economy. But the GOP/Trumpian fantasy economics (voodoo to the core) came home to roost demonstrating that a hundred years of study of economic dynamics weren't wrong but Trump's fantasy world was. Do I think they'll change course? Not on your life. Trump will double down imagining that some secret cabal of Democrats and those foreigners did him in, and that WHEN the 'real' numbers are published, he will be vindicated. Sort of like his 'fake polls' routine.

But it's also the anti-social programs. In my purple state, almost every ballot measure to help pay for things such as education passed. The anti-tax folk are discovering that people know that there can't be a future without strong education. Then there is the wholesale arrival of the GOP Gestapo and their illegal practices. More than a few out there, and not just foreigners and minorities, can see the writing on the wall if something doesn't stop it SOON.

As for the SCOTUS, I don't think any of the majority 6 cares. Lord knows the Chief Justice has continued his lifelong ambition of bringing us back to pre-civil-rights, pre-voting-rights times. In his mind, disenfranchisement is as American as apple pie. Remember, he's supposedly the 'voice of reason' on the conservative side of the SCOTUS.

Thank you, Andrew, for once again keeping the focus where it should be. Every candidate should run their own race based on principle, unity, and affordability. Mamdani ran a race that resonated in NYC. The problems a big city may face will not resonate in most of America, but affordability works everywhere. Fire, fight, and focus on local issues will win back this country and unite us around the common cause of the working class. When Americans wake up and realize it is our money, not the Government's money, we can then talk about how that money should make our lives better. 2026 candidates will have a hell of a task to fix what was broken, but to also prepare Americans for what is coming. Time and tide wait for none, and we need a damn plan now.

Great article Andrew! I think the corrupt republicans and Supreme Court are reading the room and realizing that things are not going to end well for any of them. They thought that the American people were just going to be complacent.

Excellent Andrew-so proud of Sherrill and Spanburger in particular-post election commentary STILL undervaluing Sherrill who pulled off flipping 5 NJ red counties-really incredible achievement from this centrist woman-and you are correct that she and Spanburger and their counterparts all over the country are the faces to watch for.
