There Will Be Consequences For Nazi Republicans and SCOTUS

Elie Mystal over at the Nation(https://bit.ly/3MXnczZ) has started an online publication which addresses a much needed candid look at this rogue conservative SCOTUS In a preview article Mystal reviews the recent Emil Bove suck up performance at Cheeto’s Pennsylvania casino rally The question is raised what a recently appointed federal judge on the 3rd Circuit would be doing at a political rally

Mystal has long been advocating for an expansion of SCOTUS after the Mitch McConnell shenanigans put two conservative Federalist recommended judges on the Court leading to a lopsided partisan judicial politic In arguing the case Mystal makes the cogent point that expansion would lead to a partisan expansion where future elected administrations would simply continue to expand based on which party was in power The appropriate response would be “that’s just fine because it would dilute the power of these SCOTUS judges”

As Thomas gets ready to take his motor home into the sky and Alito retires to his upside down flag house at the beach, Cheeto is hoping Bove will be front and center on his list to fill those vacancies All the more reason to expand this partisan money backed court

Americans never seem willing to admit that our country has been (and still is) less than perfect. To do so is branded “unpatriotic”. It makes white people “feel bad” to hear that white Americans have exploited people of other races: natives, Africans, Asians (Chinese Exclusion Act, internment of Japanese Americans, etc.) It goes against our belief in American exceptionalism to admit that George Washington, the Father of our Country, owned slaves, or that Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence, had a longtime sexual relationship with one of his slaves. So instead we don’t talk about those things and say that people who do talk about them “hate America”. So we whitewash history and remove Toni Morrison books from libraries. Why are we so unable to face facts? If I don’t admit that I’m overweight (which I am), I’m never going to lose weight. If we keep pretending that our country is and has always been perfect, how will we ever improve? To me the history of the United States has been an ongoing struggle to live up to the ideals expressed in our Declaration of Independence, that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights. This struggle hasn’t always gone in a straight line - there have been periods (such as the present) during which we’ve regressed, but gradually we’ve expanded the definition of “all men” to include non-Europeans, non-Christians, women, those with different sexual orientations and gender identities, etc. White Christian nationalists want to take us backwards. We need to be strong enough to face reality in order to keep moving forward.

White Christian Nationalists are not Christian and not for our nation. They have chosen an idol and he is dementia orange and they are greedy for what is there for themselves. They use symbols as a weapon, but without true meaning to their purpose. Their hearts are hard, they do not hear the words of the Bible. They do not choose to emulate Christ. They are the money changers Jesus flipped the tables on.

Willful ignorance . I so agree. Thank you so much for your excellent discussion and history of Christianity. When I was growing up I always wondered why Christians were mostly found in communities of the United States. Also when I was growing up we were told never to use the “n” word. Christian Nationalism (white!) is sickening. This Christian Nationalism information is VITAL. Jesus would be appalled. Jesus was not white and would have been deported. I applaud the churches who are depicted anti-ICE rhetoric. We have taken huge backwards steps in our Nation. Our Nation is mentally ill. They truly are in a wealthy white CULT. Thank you for this discussion.

There’s an old saying that “Christianity isn’t dead; it’s never been tried.” That saying has never been more true than today.

Christian Nationalism is the ultimate oxymoron.
