Trump measures success by the stock market in his world. In the real world, we measure success at the supermarket checkout, a place completely unfamiliar to this president.
Measured in depreciating dollars, stocks present an illusion of great growth, but not so much if measured in soemthing tangible like ounces of gold. Some day that IRA will be redeemed temporarily in dollars but then in ounces of beef at the supermarket. All those numbers can add up to a net loss, especially when those banks with super computers linked with direct fiber to the exchange jump in front of your stock sale.
Democrats missed what should have been the simplest response to Trump's State of the Union speech. Trump sees a golden age. We see a new gilded age.
