The opportunity for Democrats to pull younger men into their voting coalition is to cast themselves as the Opportunity party. Whereas the GOP mocks them as being supposedly lazy, Democrats can clearly differentiate that they understand that younger men play video games as a ritual for self-agency and a place for them to just be themselves. I just hope the Democrats understand what needed and how to succeed with getting these folks back on board.

I'm afraid the LS article misses the mark by a wide margin. There is an enormous appetite for punishing young men for being who they are, and it's coming from both the Left and the Right. We've already found that there's no way to change the way people think, they just have to be crushed by a new reality. If I was a smarter person, I may be able to game out where such a trend could lead, but that would be speculation. In the meantime, the sneering and hatred will continue until the attitude improves.

Th attitude of MAGA and Trump has echoes of the way that the British treated the Irish in Ireland during the potato famine. Only reluctantly did the British provide assistance: thousands starved to death, people were turned out of their homes, public works projects were established for people to earn their aid and then workers were not paid, and people were also sold bread and wheat at above market prices. Ireland was exporting wheat and other commodities to Great Britain at the same time. Many Irish emigrated to the US to face discrimination here. History rhymes doesn’t it. Where will the outcasts of the MAGA cornucopia flee now?
