For decades, both major parties slowly abandoned any notion of civic obligation. Politics became transactional. Campaigns were reduced to competing offers.
Protesting is a right if not a duty. Another right that should be a duty is voting. I attended a protest in Ohio, and I'd be willing to bet that fewer than 1 in 3 attendees will actually go to the polls.
I’ll be in Milwaukee, dressed as a penguin, carrying a huge sign that reads, “HEY DUDE, YOU’RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME!” It’s adorned with penguin photos. On a photo that appears to have two penguins talking to each other, I added the caption, “I heard he smells bad.” Let’s all get out there, stay safe, but have some fun with this!
Thanks for the important reminder. We'll be going to two No Kings rallies tomorrow, and will keep on prompting our representatives to do the right thing, helping get out the vote, donating to pro democracy causes, and whatever else we need to do to get our country on the right track.
As a retired FED I used to subscribe to the Waashington Post to keep abreast of goings on in our Capitol. NO MORE!!! When Jeff Bezos (and his riduculous monkey laugh) directed the Post to tone down its reporting about the TACO administration I cancelled my subscription. When the Post, FOX (and demented Murdoch) and other news media report the news as a continuation of the TACO lies, they lost my respect and I feel they are no longer legitimate news organizations. A true news organization always looks for the FACTS before publicizing them as news.
Wish my body would let me go, but I will be there in spirit, I'm all in except for my legs! Really sad that I can't do this, but there are going to be protests very close to home. And I support everyone that can make it there! Kind of like voting it's a civic duty!
I purchased a lovely Resist T Shirt from Penzey's and will be at the Indivisible event in Sonora Ca. My daughter and 26 year old non-political grandson will be joining me.
Our democracy was sold. If America survives, we must End Citizens United and get the money out of politics. See y’all at NO KINGS PROTEST. I’ll be in Salem, Oregon dressed as a jester🃏
