Thank you for the article, the hope I see is the nonviolent protest. This administration is in trouble. Our President tweeted out for an exchange of words asking Governor Walz and AG Ellison to meet and speak with them, i would not do that! I smell set up, against Governor Walz and AG Ellison, i believe ice may continue to kill protesters 🪧. Please invest in democracy, subscribe to Lincoln Square.

I’ve been gone for 40 years, but a part of me will always consider Minnesota “home,” so this past couple of weeks has involved heartbreak and ugly crying as I mourn for a special place. This invasion was so completely unwarranted. Minnesota has an exceptionally small population of undocumented immigrants. Minnesota cares for its own and demands few resources from the federal government, as compared to “red” states. Minnesota is a safe place with a strong sense of community and kinship. Minnesota has earned the “Minnesota nice” monicker. What is now being said about them, to say nothing of the victims of DHS crimes is beyond comprehension. I hope we will all rally on their behalf.

I would love for us to get back to being who we REALLY are. Voting is one way, protesting is another way. We have to voice that we are "fed up" even if they ignore us! We have to keep trying to get things to go a better way. We can't just throw up our hands and quit!

Thank you Minneapolis! it is high time to rise up, and loudly! We are angling close to The QRF: T wants troops at the ready for protests or to deter voting through intimidation. Authoritarian Playbook. Militarized Streets. https://bsky.app/profile/opsan.com/post/3lr3xe52rkc2h

Democrats Need To Get Honest About The Economy And Inflation

“Economy is good” always saith the politician when in reality it's not The independent media particularly the financial media are ringing the warning bells that financial problems are imminent but politicians "crickets" The same occurred in 1921 when economists knew the Reichsmark was soon to be inflated to infinity while the politicians sat on their hands while the dollar has lost 94% of its purchasing power it had in gold since 1971

History is about to repeat itself And while the crypto industry claims that bitcoin is the gold replacement that is absolutely a bogus claim(https://bit.ly/4reCkId) for several reasons Even our Constitution establishes a bimetallic standard(gold and silver) Of course contemporary macroeconomists who have bought the Keynesian koolaid deny a return to a gold standard is important are quietly advocating central bank purchasing of gold and Germany is demanding its gold reserves back from the NY Fed Reserve vaults

Meanwhile China is sitting on the 30% of the above ground global gold holdings and has innoculated itself from a global fiat currrency crash as the politicians twiddle their thumbs

This article first brought to mind my father, friends, family all members of the Greatest Generation. How would they feel about this, what would they say. Unequivocally, I can say that those veterans would have quite a few words and most of them not for polite company. They were both Democrats and Republicans, but they were Americans first. They saw first hand what brutal authoritarian regimes will bring, chaos, upheaval, suffering and death. Their reactions would be physical and loud. The current activities of Trump and his regime would be a common cause for action. I can imagine they are spinning in their graves. My family and friends are also a mixture of anti regime and Trump loyalist. Some are the good guys you had beer with, salt of the earth but true to Trumpism. They mostly get their news and information from FOX and corporate news which caters to Trump with slanted or outright misinformation. Knowing them as I do, when they realize they are used, gaslighted and used, payback will be hell. This is definitely on who we areas a country.

What stuck with me was the MAGA friend’s quote that he didn’t want to see violent criminals in the street but also didn’t want the government to tell him he didn’t see what he saw with his own eyes.

Hope…and defiance are super powers. All good thoughts to Minnesota for both.

Going home: Old friends. Saying goodbye to those who have passed. Hugs. Smiles. Tears of joy and sadness. Is it just sentimental journey? No. It reminds me of what has shaped my life. And perhaps what shaped yours. We don't live in "yesterdays", but they did help shape our "todays". And as you pointed out Trygve, the everyday helping each other reminds us of who we are and what we value. Your story Trygve, and the stories others have share do lift up hope. So, thanks, Trygve and thanks to all. Take care.

Here in New Jersey, we are Minnesotans today. This cannot be the America we leave for our children and grandchildren.
