America is presenting itself to legacy media for examination and diagnosis. And like a dysfunctional healthcare system, the media is identifying individual symptoms and missing the disease.
Rolling out the red carpet and playing second fiddle to a war criminal invited to speak on American soil isn’t an isolated story. Ghislaine Maxwell having private meetings with Trump’s personal attorney and then getting “protection” and a transfer to a cushy Club Fed doesn’t stand alone. Turning the nation’s capital into a police state with armed National Guard on the streets of D.C. is not independent of Trump’s septic vision for our country. Ignoring due process. Defying court orders. Attempting to erase immigrants and whitewash slavery. The list of symptoms is long and grows daily.
There is some excellent reporting happening within legacy media, and if the country were generally in good health, then standard exams would be adequate. You could do a single story and move on. But America is seriously ill, infected by a man eager to silence the goodness, progress, and potential that is the beating heart of our country.
After a decade of Donald Trump spreading hatred, division, and corruption, enriching himself and America’s oligarchs along the way, the mainstream media still fails to recognize or find the courage to speak out and call this man what he is: a tyrant and a wannabe fascist dictator. Ignoring the sickness allows it to grow stronger and more difficult to treat.
And that’s where this movement of independent media comes in. That’s why Lincoln Square exists. Because we’re not willing to watch this country we love and the potential it holds be snuffed out. We will never do just enough to say we covered a story and move on, hoping that no feathers were ruffled, no ire was raised, and no one in this sick administration noticed. If they’re not noticing, then we are failing, and we have no intention of allowing that to happen.
Because of the support of tens of thousands of fellow Americans, Lincoln Square is one of the fastest-growing media entities in the country. We need to grow larger, louder, and more powerful, but we need your help. If you haven’t already become a paid subscriber, I’m asking you to consider becoming one today. Now. We’re not trying to convey a sense of urgency where no emergency exists. This moment could not be more critical.
Every day, we wake up committed to bringing you critical news and commentary you can’t find anywhere else. We’re asking you to help make this work possible because everything is on the line. Please share this message, share our work, and keep fighting alongside us. We will defeat the disease of Trumpism, but only if we’re all in this together.
