Thank you both. I wish every American would watch and hear this. I reposted it.

Right wing Catholics are every bit as zealous and indifferent toward Americans' civil liberties as their Protestant counterparts, the Evangelical warriors for God.

Those who have heard the sanctimonious and smarmy David French recently will know that he doesn't like it that Trump is violating the Constitution. That makes sense. That really is unseemly behavior. When men of deep religious faith like Mr. French pursue or advocate objectives that would offend the Constitution, such as banning abortion, [1] letting business owners violate laws prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation [2] and now, using taxpayer dollars to fund sectarian religious schools, [3] they simply get the Supreme Court to rewrite the Constitution for them.

This is only the beginning. The radical anti-gay and anti-abortion Catholic activist Robert P. George (his day job is as a Princeton scholar) wants to use 303 Elenis to establish a form of religious apartheid that makes secular businesses off limits to gay people: “We insist on the right to shape and run our institutions — be they schools, hospitals, food pantries, shelters, adoption agencies, rehab centers, or what have you — in line with the tenets of our faiths, and we further insist on our right as free and equal citizens to engage in advocacy on terms of equality with our fellow citizens in the formal and informal forums of deliberative democracy.” George, Robert P. "Championing Religious Freedom: ‘We Must Preserve Our Unity’ Going Beyond Political Disputes." "They don't know about history." They know about so, so, much, but want to base their decisions on the simple notion of following their church? their social class?, their prejudices, ...

RIGHT ON - abortion, etc., is a state v church issue!! Of course, and going there, what church? It's a religious belief vs basic science issue.

Agree, the GOP has become a religious organization.

So, then the court must also accept public funding of Islamic, Jewish, Buddhist, ... schools?

Seems unlikely that the Christian Nationalist will see it that way. Funny how that works.

Oh, this is such an important issue before us now! Thank You Lisa & Andra for walking us through the backstory behind Christian nationalism, and how various GOP political figures in Congress seem to be speaking with a forked tongue when they talk about the separation of church and State! Andra, I also like the way you highlight something I have always believed, which is that the pro life vs pro choice issue is mostly a religious issue and should be treated as a separation of church and state question.

Your discussion was both eye-opening and refreshing because of the new perspective you presented us with. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope and pray that we live to see a better day in this country because right now things are looking pretty dark.

"American citizens being grabbed off the street by plainclothes goons and shipped off to — perhaps — a foreign gulag" Worst is yet to come. Donald "The Beast" Trump is building a wall once again. Colossal tariff wall that is the beginning of the end for the system of down. At first the beast will pull the plug out of the global economy. The worst financial crisis of human history will pull a swarm of the banks underwater and the bank run begins. Then the beast will collapse a mountain of debt shattering the backbone of the monetary system causing a systemic risk to realize. Finally the beast will cast American citizens into a system slavery under the name of Ronald Wilson Reagan, just to "honor his legacy" count the number. After the destruction a new world order will be established in the US. And the Golden Age begins from the ruins of the world wide collapse. All of the system slaves will love it. No more cash - just digital transactions. No more traditional criminal activity. No more tax evasion. No more transactions without the "all seeing eye". Outcasts will hate the world without freedom, hope and privacy. To cover up the mess and distract the public by smoke and mirrors, the beast will engage in a war with Iran. Lies and deceit, corruption and decay, dancing on the graves will continue. Until; Black hole sun, won't you come, won't you come... I want to play a game. Time has come to opt out of the empire of filth. Live or die...

Much ado about nothing. I am a regular attendee to a Christian Church and, of course, try to follow the ten commandments BUT they are NOT exclusive to "Christian Nationalists".

If one examines the great religions of the world, you will find virtually all major religions have a sacred form of commandments that guide our every day lives. Oh sure, they aren't worded tjhe same as "our" ten commandments, but their underlying directives are closely related to our "sacred ten".

Many of these religions FAR predafe the Christian (and Jewish) religions, so we do NOT have an exclusive right to call them ours. I (and many more people) prefer to worship as we see fit and do NOT WANT some re;ligious ZEALOT telling us what is right or wrong.

Andra Watkins' information must be spread out everywhere. I practice no religion, always wonder why the heck I say "OMG" when what I really mean is "Oh, my Aunt Fannie." I hope for deadlock from SCOTUS, therefore allowing the OK court ruling to stand.

The King James Bible is not a translation. I was created by and for Christians to be used as a tool in spreading the faith. It takes great liberties in translation that often cross the line into fabrication, especially regarding the Old Testament. This explains why English speaking Christians tend to be more aggressive.

The ugly truth not mentioned is that charter schools originally were created to evade desegregation. Now they want to fight for religious segregation, which will ultimately lead to separate and unequal again.

I'm offended that nobody has the guts to confront and challenge the court to their faces for their conservative Catholic bias. I read the silence as capitulation. Too much is made of examples where the decision would go afoul instead of addressing it's malicious intent. The Christian nationalist nonsense teaching that separation of church and state was pro-Christian needs to be brought up and confronted when it's a known belief of the judges. (I refuse to call them "justices" when they foment so much injustice in the Roberts court.)

I'm amused to hear her refer to the "Jewish Ten Commandments." She has not entirely escaped the ignorance inflicted on her. Actually, the Ten Commandments were given only to the Jews. There is no Jewish version except as compared to the inaccurate and wordy translations from King James. (Most are just two words like "No adultery" or "No murder.") Only the 6 Noahide Laws (7 if you count the additional command to establish a system of justice to apply the first 6) apply to the gentiles. The Mosaic laws were imposed to make Jews a 'light (example) unto the nations,' but when asked if they apply to others, Moses said only, "Remember when you were slaves in Egypt" making it by implication a matter of extending justice, not imposition of religious practice. The Ten Commandments do not mesh with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, so posting them on any governmental facility is absurd.

At the end of the Indian epic, Mahabharata, King Yudishthera refuses to be in heaven where his evil cousins are enjoying eternity. He prefers the dark stench of hell in company with his family. I think no good person would want to be in a heaven that accepted Maga Mike.

If heaven is a burning cesspool of hate, ignorance, and racism, then Mike will have his place reserved. I can only assume one of the prerequisites of entering his version of heaven is starving poor children receiving food aid in order to feed the insatiable money appetites of the wealthy.
